In Short – After a long day of shopping on Michigan Avenue, tourists and girlfriends take a break to wrap themselves up in a chocolate moment. The lounge is divided up into three different sections for more intimate chats with your gal pal. Pinks and purples throw feminine touches to the lounge, along with comfy chairs and small couches and large banners hanging from the ceiling. The eatery is known for its signature truffles spiked just a little with tempting liqueurs. – – – – – – – – – – – – –…
Amazing espresso and chocolates
by foodlover13 at Citysearch
What a pleasant surprise! We walked by this chocolate place and thought that the cute colors and package designs were used wrap up and sell mediocre chocolates. We were wrong. They offered to give the two of us samples. We tried the dark "Cocktail" chocolate-lemon drop and pina colada. First of all, they look absolutely amazing, each like an artwork painted individually. One taste, they were absolutely awesome with just the right amount of fruit and cocktail flavors and not overpoweringly sweet. Then the lady told us if we buy a coffee drink, we would get 2 pieces of free chocolate any choice. What a deal! We ordered a double espresso, along with the dark chocolate truffle as well as espresso truffle. The espresso was very good, considering that we have not had good espressos since our trip to Paris last year. The truffles were okay since the outer shells were a bit hard to our liking. We were also looking for a little more of the dark chocolate bitterness. But, overall, this place rocks! It's so cute too!!!
- Pros: designs of the chocolate and packaging, great flavors
- Cons: not available in other states, online orders available though
Great Truffle Eating Experience
by pinoyvlf at Citysearch
I took my girlfriend here after a nice few hours of walking around on downtown Chicago, because I knew she (and mostly I) needed a break. So we came over to Ethel's and got a nice chocolate for two deal. We were able to choose a number of chocolate truffles that they hand and have some nice tea (Earl Grey or Mint). We sat down on their comfortable couches and relaxed to the chocolate and tea. Overall the experience was great. the truffles were good, but we had better truffles at Vosges which was not too far away. Overall, I strongly recommend this place for any chocolate lover or to anyone planning out a date.
- Pros: Great chocolate truffle experience
- Cons: Can get a bit crowded at times
