The folks behind Cans, Four and Salud enter sports bar territory with this West Loop hangout. The space encompasses more than 5,000 square feet with contemporary touches like exposed beams, stained concrete floors and 35 plasma TVs. Private booths are even outfitted with flat-screens for your viewing pleasure. Upscale comfort food faves--think pork tenderloin sandwiches and turkey meat loaf--dot the menu.

Best Place to Watch a Game!

by ladydrogo

Love this bar! Tons of great plasmas everywhere you look and personal TVs in all of the booths make this the best place to watch a game for miles around. Food is always solid and the menu is surprisingly big for a sports bar. Great specials like 35 cent wings on Thursdays and $1 Domestic Bottles on Fridays. Even if you are not a sports fan you will enjoy this bar. Big drink list and great beer selection, as well.

How much do you think you pay for Remy VSOP neat?

by labo

I think the most prudent negative comment I can attach to JRs is it's a bit bi polar and from night to night it's difficult to know what to expect.

I actually go there quite frequently and somewhat embrace the diversity, but would like to see it a bit more linear from experience to experience.

Thought the staff was attractive and layed back, always feel very welcome, great management fully comprehends "hospitality". Their Mojitos are much better than Nacional 27, actually kind of surprised they don't receive more accolades for them, the Passion Mojito is pear and pineapple par cooked in Bacardi Coco, tons of booze and served on crushed ice with fresh syrups and juices, it actually evolves as it sits and gets better as the flavors conjoin.

Food is a bit above average, basically creative bar food with a Latino flare, great wings (can's cut- like you find in Little Korea- superb). Generally go when Matt's behind the bar, lotsa fun, very cool bartender, if I wanted pretension, I would go to the Rainbo Room.

As far as the folks who drank Remy VSOP neat and were shocked by the price, check the prices around the city, I am a liquor distributor and that's the going rate, are you bragging that you don't tip? I'm sure they'll miss your patronage!

I was also there for Super Bowl, a bit of a fire drill, I'll admit, but cramming 300+ people into a room to watch their favorite team lose is tough to keep upbeat, especially when people write "tip this" in the tip bracket. I think this is definately worth a sniff, not for everyone, and not for everynight, but I always have fun and will always return.

  • Pros: Huge, state of the art, but still pulls off neighborhood bar, leaps and bounds above competition in neighborhood, or say a Joe's
  • Cons: bi polar

DETOUR BEFORE ENTRY

by toothrew

This place was alright in the beginning. Until I received my bill for two drinks I ordered which were 2 shots or Remy Martin. My bill was $30 and some change. After inquiring about my 2 drinks and a dbl ordered by someone else, a dbl. cost $4 more than a sgl. shot. They charged a gratuity and still had the nerve to have a tip line on the receipt which I wrote "TIP THIS". I met a group there and 3 of us were at one table. Prior to my coming, they had 1 dbl Remy, 2 Apple Martinis, 1 Patron, 2 appetizers and the bill was $135. The majority of the girls (8) sat a a table across from us and their bill was, get this, $150+. They had drinks and more food than my table.
