Horrible Service -. we've actually gone there 3 times... never again! Strike 3 you're out! Every time we get the worst service. No wonder the place is empty and keeps going out of business.

i received horrible service so i left a very small tip. good thing i checked my credit card statement this month! the damn waitress tried to give herself a $40 tip and didn't expect me to catch it!

We never even made it an issue at the restaurant. We were going to let the tip speak for itself.

5900 Televisions, Occasional HD. It's a pet peeve, and a nerdy one at that, but when you've got a bar covered in HD televisions, wouldn't it make sense to train your staff how to get to the HD channel? This is my neighborhood sports bar, and often times I end up miles away watching the Bears on a Sunday or the Bulls on a weeknight because the bartender doesn't have the HD channel on, claims they don't get it, or tells me "it's the tv. That's an older one."

They've made huge strides with the quality of service since it was Player's, but somebody needs to take the five minutes to train the bar staff on televisions. It's why the place is there, after all.

HOW RUDE!!. I went there to celebrate a friend's birthday. The open-bar drink special wasn't worth it because it did not include top self or shots, so I declined. The bartenders were rude but we ordered the $9 drinks anyway. The drinks turned out to be horrible, way too much ice in the small 8oz glass for a mixed drink. While we were sitting at the bar the bartender splashed beer from the tap into my eyes and all over our clothes. Instead of giving us napkins to clean up he passes us the rag which they use to clean the bar area, and had an attitude when I asked for napkins. Overall, this place was horrible; everything from parking, the service, to the drinks, the crowd, and the TV's.

River West watering hole goes from brunch to beer and Badger games.. In Short
What starts out as casual Saturday brunch with some friends easily turns into a raging Irish dance party at this River West hangout. Mornings at Mahoney's are casual--a scrambled egg here, a bloody mary there. By mid-afternoon, the Badger game is on and unruly alum show up in garish red and white--and sometimes embarassing pom-poms. At night the tables vanish, the crowd miraculously becomes younger and the gal the bar stool over is dancing on it. Thanks to the food, the booze and the people--this bar is a magical venue that transforms itself every five hours.

Where was the wait staff?. This was the first time I went to this place and since I just moved into the neighborhood I was looking forward to it. I guess my hopes were too high because I left greatly disappointed in the service or actually lack of. The manager stated the short staffing was due to four people quitting two days ago which after reading these reviews, I doubt I believe. They have had poor service reviews for the past two years. Players if you are reading this, GET IT TOGETHER! We want to make your place our regular place but unless the service gets better we are going to go over to DeLux instead.

Attitudes. I give Player's an average rating. It's a nice-looking place for sure. I go to play pool. Bar pool table in great shape and plenty of room around it. I've never sat down to eat so I can't comment on the service... I DID have calimari one time while playing pool and it pretty much sucked. The girls that work there are pretty good looking but not friendly. You can feel the attitudes. I agree w/ someone else above who said that they don't feel welcome there.

For sports fans and their fans. My boyfriend and his friends and my girlfriens and I we all love to watch the games (Go White Sox! for me and Red Sox for my girlfriend). And I can't think of any other place then Players to do so - if there is a sport and it's on TV they have it. So many screans, so many different games. The weekly specials are awsom. Food is great. Service is friendly. Maybe you all (the bad review people) should give the place another chance.

Awesome Happy Hour. I went here after work one day, the crowd was very friendly. It's social neighborhood bar but more upscale then your local watering hole. I went back the other night cuz their food menu looked real good, and a game was on- this place kicks butt for watching the Bulls!

Great spot to watch a game. I think it's a great place to watch any game. Friendly staff and tasty food. It is a bit pricey for a sports bar, but the burger patties are fresh made daily and only a few frozen-fried items on the menu. Also, servings are huge. So yes, you may pay 8-9$ for a burger, but it's the juciest and the biggest burger you've had. Beer pitchers are 9-12$. I think it is all well worth it, when you are surrounded by plazmas, and the bigscreen is probably 3rd best in chicago.

decent local place. i dont know about the old reviews, but maybe some things have changed. i wanted to watch a rugby game and i was the only one there wanting to see it, and it was no problem. the cubs were playing on all the other tvs. i was asked if i wanted a refill on my beer frequently and the staff was friendly the whole time. worth chekcing out and giving it another try if it missed for you the first time.
