Avoid near opening and closing hours. My 1st experience was good, but I spent too much for too little. I got a mini tip & link combo, & literaly inhaled it. I enjoyed the flavor & passed the word on. During a discussion about it someone told me that they had a horrible experience. They went shortly after it opened & ate ribs that they felt were burnt & probably a day old. The next time I went with a buddy. I told him how tasty it was but warned him about the price. We went close to closing. He saw the menu & his jaw dropped because of the high prices. We were ordering for 5 people. They said they were out of rib tips, the 1st let down. Ribs & tips have to be their staple, how can they let themselves run out of that? We didn't decide to leave just yet. We ordered 3 sml links and some chicken. They said they were out of chicken & they only had enough links to fill 2 orders. While we were figuring out what to do they said they could fill 3 link orders. So they were making 3 orders out of 2 & still charging us for 3! Of course I had to ask them what time they closed just to be sure. They told me that they do close at 9pm, but if they had too much food left over at closing they had to throw it away. The chef then showed me 3 slabs of ribs and says he had to throw those away because they probably would not sell them by closing time. Then I asked him to give them to me if he was going to toss them. I was joking, but seeing as they couldn't fill any of my orders why not try to satisfy the customer by offering me a good price on the only thing they had left? I guess that would be too much like good customer service. That was when I realized there was probably some truth to my friend's thought that they were eating day old and burnt ribs when they showed up at opening. Honestly speaking the taste was great when I had it, but if you choose to go don't expect good cust. serv. if there is any sort of problem, be sure to be ready to spend and go during their mid-business hours.

Smoky sweet sauce, killer pulled pork and the best hotlinks I've had...ever. Make your way over to Honey 1 on Western and Lyndale. The place is a good ol southern smokehouse. If you love pulled pork and smoky hotlinks then this is the place for you. I haven't had the ribs yet because I always order the pulled pork sandwich and an order of hotlinks smothered in their signature sauce. The entrees come topped with the white bread that you know you love. it keeps the heat in and can be used to sop up the tangy and smoky sweet sauce. If you want peach asian euro sauce and a menu a mile long don't go here, this is authentic southern bbq and they do it right .I didn't like the fries but the pork and the pork sausage made up for it. you can't judge a place on french fries anyway. Seriously, the next time you want bbq, just give this place a try and order the pulled pork sandwich and also order the hotlinks. Convince yourself that you will bring the left overs home, and then finish the last 2 links off in the car while driving because they were that good.

Overpriced; mediocre-at-best ribs (Note: they don't even offer babyback, only Spare). Not Recommended.

Excellent meal for the money. My girlfriend and I regularly visit this place for ribs and wings. Honey 1 barbeque is an excellent restaurant. Their bbq ribs are fantastic and the fried wings are amazing. I heard from others that their rib tips are delicious as well. For what you pay, this is probably one of the best valued meals you will get in Chicago. This is not a fancy restaurant that I would recommend you go on your first date. But this is an excellent place for you and your bumbly girlfriend on a cold hungry night.

Bucktowners flock to this neighborhood shack for slow-cooked, wood-smoked barbecue.. In Short
This family-owned barbecue joint tempts diners with its juicy, tender spareribs packed in a smoker filled with hickory, red, apple and white oak wood. The secret is in the tangy sauce and the leisurely prep time. The restaurant makes only a few batches over a few leisurely hours. Standard sides include coleslaw, fries and potato salad.

Good ol' BBQ!. Wow! You can smell the meat smoking from blocks away from this Bucktown rib joint. The meat is tender and the sauce just right. The staff is very nice and you feel they appreciate your business. A large plasma T.V. has the game on in the dining area. you can watch the food being smoked in the BBQ through the front window. The restaurant is clean and the staff seems happy to be there. The pulled pork sandwich (w/ fries) for $7.99 is a great deal! Honey 1 is worth a visit. It's everything good BBQ should be. We will be back again and again!

Great Smoked Bbq, esp. the Chicken. I regularly visit Chicago, the city where much of my family lives, and usually get some Honey BBQ 1 Barbequed chicken. The smoked flavor is outstanding and you can tell that they take their time with it. The ribs are also good too but it's all about the "smoked" method of cooking and the straight forward, no nonsense bbq sauce that's a little spicy and a little sweet too. This is the real deal! They recently re located to Western from an area where they were immensely popular with the locals but wanted to expand business farther East, soon they'll be kings here too!
