I must admit that I have never written a review before. However, the best kept secret for great food is in Elmhurst. Athar has great food and the price are reasonable for what you get. They have best rice I have ever had and the deserts are to die for. My husband always has their steak which is as good if not better than any major chop house in the Chicagoland area. When friends come to visit from out of town, I don't take them Downtown (Chicago), I always take them to Athar. I would eat their every week if I could. I feel like I shouldn't say how good they are, otherwise they may get to the point where weeks in advance reservations would become the norm. The secret is now out.
Pros: Comfortable surroundings - Jeans to Suits. Service cares about you.
Cons: None.

I honestly have been to many arabic food places in chicago and athar tops them all.although there is some places from the burbs to chicago and the north side i thought athar is the best in food and decor. The menu is the usual in all arabic places such as humus and kabobs but better quality. prices are reasonable and the place is small and cozy. the service is good but don't compare it to cite or gibsons, overall i really recommend this place and i have yet to see a real traditional arabic food restaurant that is top notch.
Pros: rice, kibbeh and humus
Cons: none
