BEST PASTRY SHOP IN CHICAGO!!!. I absolutely love this place. I walk there every morning and I am always greeted by name and with big smiles. The staff is so friendly and accomodating, I have never had a request they didnt fulfill. I got a beautiful cake for my dads 90th birthday and the party of 100 ppl went crazy for not only the taste but the gorgeous decorations. I highly recommend this place for everything from coffee to chocolate,to birthday cakes. This is a can't miss shop.

Inferior product and rude staff. After travelling over two hours to visit this pastry shop, I was so disappointed by the quality of baked goods. The Chocolate cupcake was dry and the fruit slice was underbaked and not no fruit flavor. I was standing beside the cash register to pay and an sales person asked if I would like her to hold my chocolate, when I said , "No thank you", she said, "It will melt" in a very rude tone and turned her back.

We tried to return the baked goods after one bite and were told that everyone else liked them and maybe we were not familiar with the taste. My friend and I are Pastry chefs!.

I will never return here.

Superior Cutomer Service and Hospitality. While we simply experienced the coffee and warmth of this wonderful little candy store, we were simply overwhelmed with the direct friendliness and small-town hospitality of Sarah and her staff, whom personally came out and talked with us about her establishment. Their graciousness and hospitality were overwhelming, offering the warth of her store while we awaited the opeing for which we were town. Based simply on her hospitality, and the appealing appearance coupled with the mouth-watering aromas from her many displayed products, I will certainly include this store on my itinerary on future trips into the city and will certainly recommend her products to my friends here in LaSalle and Grundy counties.

Sarah Levy's pastry shop lures even the most discerning Oak Street pedestrian.. In Short
The maroon awning is a beacon among high-fashion neighbors, and the only food option on Oak. A few tables up front are for quick coffee breaks. Palest pink walls are offset by chandeliers and blond wood shelves bearing handmade candies in cellophane. The slab marble service counter features display cases crammed with luscious tarts, cupcakes, quiches, breads and treats, like the signature Delight-a chocolate-enrobed cluster of almonds, roasted pistachios and crispy rice.

delicious. A wonderful shop: forget cakes made from your local chain grocery store. Sarah's has cakes ready to take home, while also providing a call ahead service where you can custom order your cake. You can get everything personalized, even something you just purchased. The cookies, pastries, candy, and cupcakes are also to die for. You HAVE to taste the buttercream frosting.

Best buttercream frosting!. I have to say Sarah's Pastries and Candies has the best desserts in town. I especially enjoy their delicious and creamy buttercream frosting. It melts in your mouth. Matched with her delicous cupcakes, it is by far the best dessert in Chicago.

Delicious Treats!. I absolutely adore Sarah's Pastries & Candies. Whenever I am in the area I make a special trip to Sarah's for one of her amazing cupcakes (and usually a chocolate chip cookie as well!). Her buttercream is outstanding and I love that she fills the center of her cupcakes with extra frosting. I have had many cupcakes in my day and Sarah's are my favorite by far. Sarah and her staff are delightful and always friendly. This is a fantastic find in the Gold Coast and a great place to indulge!

Best brioche in town. If you haven't had the luxury of enjoying one of Sarah's warm rasberry and chocolate brioches in the morning, you must indulge. A true delicacy and testament to her background in french pastry school. Sarah's refined taste in combined ingredients provide a product that is truly unparalleled.

DRY CUPCAKES. Cupcakes are horrible, dry cake and adverstising buttercream frosting when it really tastes like whipped frosting. Was very disappointed and she went to pastry school for this????????? I've had far better cupcakes from amateur bakers.

Sarah's is wonderful!. I love Sarah's signature candies. The combination of chococlate and the crispy's is so delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone...a local or an out of towner visiting Chicago, trying to get a taste of the best the city has to offer!
