Set in a contemporary space in River West, this restaurant is a neighborhood favorite. Artfully presented New American fare focuses on fresh, in-season ingredients. Grilled venison loin chops and pistachio-crusted venison leg is accented by pumpkin puree, chive spaetzle and lingonberry sauce. For dessert: rich, banana cream pie with chocolate shavings. The front room features a rustic wood-topped bar on one side, and banquettes, low leather couches and cubes next to a stacked flagstone wall on the other. The dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows and diaphanous white curtains lend elegance,…
Cozy Atmosphere, Fresh Dishes

May Street Market is inviting from the moment you enter. The warm tones in the restaurant are cozy and classic. It is perfect for a date or a nice group dinner. I love how they change their menu seasonally. The food tasted spot on and full of the freshest ingredients. The wine list was great and there are a lot of different wines to choose from. I would definately check it out if your looking for a great meal without all the trendy hoop-la.
- Pros: Great food, cozy spot

Everything from start to finish just felt right. Hostess greeted us like a friend greeting her friends at her front door. Our server took pride in the complexities of the dishes, his expertise and the quality of the food. We started with their signature app of maytage blue cheesecake and it did not disappoint. Our entrees sang with flavor; intricate balance and blends of flavors and textures were well thought out and outrageously successful. Service was pleasant and super attentive with out being intrusive throughout the evening.
When we left we felt like we were leaving a great dinner party. Definitely hope to go back again soon.
- Pros: food, service, ambience
Extraordinary Food, Service and Ambiance

I have been to this restaurant three times now and it only gets better! May Street Market is easily the best restaurant in Chicago. The menu is diverse and changes every 3-4 weeks in an effort to use organic local fresh produce (e.g., from the Green City Market). I am a vegetarian and the vegetarian selections are excellent and also change on a regular basis. My friends are not vegetarian and they continue to be elated with their food too. I should mention that the menu is mostly meat/seafood and that is their specialty but there are at least 2-4 appetizers/salads/soups and 2 entrees that are vegetarian (and awesome!). The unique and ever-changing menu uses interesting combinations of ingredients to create dishes that are out of this world. Further, the service is top-notch and the comfy dining rooms (there are 2) make this a place to keep on visiting. I plan to come back on a regular basis to see what the chef has in store next. I highly recommend this place.
