Richard is the WORST Manager EVER. I went to Blue Mercury 3 weeks before my wedding to do a trial with Richard (the store manager) for my wedding... he told me that he usually doesn't work on Sundays, but that he would make sure he'd be in to do my makeup for my Sunday wedding, which I thought was incredibly nice. One week before the wedding, I called to confirm my appointment and the woman who answered told me that I wasn't int he appointment book and that Richard would call me back. When he did, he told me that the woman I spoke to had me down for the wrong day, and that he'd DEFINITELY be there to do my makeup. He then gave me his cell phone number and told me to text him if I needed anything.

So on the day of my wedding, I texted Richard that I would be there in about an hour and when I arrived, I was told that Richard was away for the weekend on a vacation! I then called the cell number he gave me and left a message with my number, but he never called! So after meeting with him for a trial, confirming with him, texting him, and calling him on the cell phone number he gave me, he decided to go on vacation without telling me and without even warning the shop that I was expecting him! The shop employees had no clue that I was even coming! And, I might add that he never called me to acknowledge that he'd been in the wrong either. Nice service recovery!

Thankfully, I was a pretty laid back bride, and fortunately there was an amazing makeup artist there named Isidro who totally saved the day! I told him what I wanted and he did a WAY better job than Richard had done... Of course it's practically impossible for a bride to look bad on her wedding day since we are all smiling constantly, but thanks to Isidro, I & everyone else thought I looked completely amazing!

I am completely torn about this shop because Isidro was so amazing and Richard was such a terrible manager, so I thought I needed to make known what a nightmare it was to trust Richard. I think I will go back, but I'll definitely try and go on a Sunday, when I can be confident that Richard won't be there, especially if he says he will be.

Best Staff and esthetician ever!! I fly in from out of town to see Besty!. I went to this spa on my husbands recommendation before we got married. I got a facial there. It was awesome. Then before my wedding, I got a full body wax. Including..... DUM DUM DUM...the dreaded Brazilian. I have been to a couple of places and let me tell you Betsy at blue mercury is by far the BEST! This is as painless as a Brazilian will get ladies. I actually fell asleep while she waxed me!

I can't recommend Betsy highly enough. She uses a special blue wax (stripless) for the tender areas like Brazilian bikini and under arms, and it is virtually painless. She is so good, I won't go to anyone else. After my wedding, I moved to Philadelphia but I still went back to Chicago every month to visit family and go to Betsy to get my waxing. Now I live in Saudi Arabia, and every chance I get to visit the U.S, I make sure I see Betsy. If that doesn't tell you how good she is, I don't know what will.

The staff as a whole are very kind and friendly. They don't pressure you to buy products and will chat with you about make-up artistry, health and beauty, or even hats. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they always remember you by name when you come back for a visit. This is the only spa I have ever been to that makes you feel at home, regardless of whether you're there to buy something or just browse. I have been to many spas in my travels and I have to say that this one is by far number one.

Blue Mercury Chicago, you rock!!!!

betsy is the greatest skin care pro that I've ever had (that's saying a lot). I have been a hairdresser for years and have worked at fancy spa's and have had many service providers. I have never been happier. I've seen betsy for almost two years, I buy all of my skin care from her and I have all of my man-scaping (waxing) done here.

I get my neck and brows waxed and the shape has never been more masculine (less done looking) but still clean.

The lines that she has me using are dermalogica and skin ceuticles (I might have spelled that wrong).

I have never been happier.

I send all of my clients there for their man-scaping as well, I have never heard a bad thing (really, never) they get backs waxed, necks and brows as well.

so go, clean your self up and tell her you like her hair(it's one of my masterpieces.
