Editorial Review for Sidebar Grille – by Aaron Baar

In Short
Named after a courtroom meeting between judges and attorneys, this spot takes advantage of its proximity to several major area law firms and downtown businesses. Wood furnishings are coupled with several televisions (including two large flat-screens behind the bar), keeping customers comfortable and current with day's events. The menu includes burgers, quesadillas and spinach dip, as well as more exotic fare like a Thai beef salad, lamb chop and aged N.Y. strip steak.

Consistent performer. I work around the corner, and end up eating at Sidebar probably once every 10 days. The chicken tortilla soup is delicious. The salads are very good. For an entree, I have had everything from a French Dip sandwich, Fish Tacos(sounds crazy but very tasty), and all were good. Other part I like is that even though it is frequently packed, the service is top notch and the place knows how to get you in and out without much fuss. Only negative, like pretty much every other restaurant in the loop, if you come right at noon, there is a line out the door. So, leave a little early...it's worth it.

Although I did not dine-in, during the brief time spent waiting on my food, the customer service was a bit unpleasant. Overall, I felt ignored. If you order the southwest beef salad, make sure to specify how you like your beef cooked. I will go back to see if they can reverse my first impression of their customer service.

Pros: Tasty food

Cons: Unattentive Service
