Great Music & Hot Bartenders. We boys and I went there last Friday and had an awesome time! The girl bartenders were hot and the guy bartenders were pretty damn cool. A guy bought my friends and I a shot for no reason other than we were trying to have a good time! We are going back again tonight just to hang with the staff!!!

Horrible Staff/ Security. I went here for a girlfriend's birthday on June 6th, 2009 and had a great time until the end of the night. I was in the bar and a fight broke out right next to me and was stuck in the middle, which included me being shoved and my purse and cell phone thrown all over the place. I had no idea who the people were fighting and a guy I did not know was nice enough to help me up and find my stuff. The staff did NOTHING to stop the fight, and when I went outside with a guy friend to explain there was a fight going on and what happened, they just laughed at me and asked what they should do about it. I was shocked that they didn't do anything to stop a fight in their bar, and then laughed at me when I already had visible marks from being shoved. Once the guys who were fighting came out my friend pointed them out, which caused the guys to start shoving my guy friend. This happened directly IN FRONT of the security and they told US to leave or else they would call the police. Obviously, the guys starting the fights knew the security and the staff wasn't going to do anything. I would NEVER go back here, I was so applauded at how security did absolutely nothing to keep the other people safe. And our waitress was very slow and rude. If you do not know the staff here I guess you are out of luck.

The writing in the description is as bad as the place. Went here with friends and found it to be rude and awful~since finding this website with reviews, I wish I had known about city search before going to Mad River. Since the majority of reviews clearly speak of how awful this place is, I would have never gone there with my group of friends. All the reviews, except the one or two that are probably written by the owner like someone else mentioned in their review, are horrible and mention how rude the staff is and how awful the food is. I thought the food was bad at an irish bar on grand and milwaukee, but mad river takes the prize!! Do yourself a favor and skip this place! Hopefully it will close and a quality establishment will take its place!!

Awesome Music and Atmosphere. Was at Mad River this past Saturday night and had a great time. The DJ was awesome and there were tons of cool people from Chicago and Michigan at this place. Great spot for a private party in the private room which I must say was a great deal for 30 bucks. If your looking for fun-this is a must see.

Regular Patron, Great Staff, Great Food, I always go to Tuesday Trivia!. # Having witnessed this horrible event put forth in the review of Kim 009.....The person in question WAS NOT allowed entrance due to insobriety and was informed as such by the first bouncer. ANDREW didn't say "I GUESS" he said "SURE". I can see why memory fails Kim because "I GUESS" sounds more non committal and strengthens her argument whereas "SURE" is a word commonly used in a sarcastic, dismissive tone...the tone Andrew inflected and was at the heart of his retort. KIM, if she was the female of the party who started screaming like a banshee, became irate and latched onto Andrew's comment screaming "ANTI-SEMITIC" to the point where I started questioning HER sobriety or at least her sanity. I harbor a particular disdain for people who use their ethnicity or cultural background for short term gain such as hoping to shame their way into entrance into a bar. It was a card blatantly played in this situation and angered me somewhat due to our shared heritage.

Extremely Poor Management and Staff. I went this past weekend with my friends. We got in in line, and a bouncer randomly approached us to tell my friend that he wasn't going to get in but didn?t give a reason. When we got to the front of the line and still got denied, my friend jokingly asked if it was because he was Jewish. Andrew the doorman said, "I guess." You may read this and say that Andrew just wasn't thinking but regardless, he made a gross error in judgment. We asked to speak to the manager and got PJ. We relayed the Jewish comment, Andrew ADMITTED his words and then?PJ told us we must have simply misheard Andrew (again, after Andrew admitted what he said) and then basically brushed us off, telling us to go away because we were too drunk. Horrible. I'm not saying they are anti-Semitic (I feel the same way about a lot of the overkill on PC stuff lately), but clearly Andrew made a terrible error in judgment and management did absolutely nothing to rectify the situation nor did they even acknowledge that it was the wrong thing to say. It?s a clear indication of how they handle their patrons in a sensitive situation. I will never go to this bar again. If even one person does not go based on my review, I will feel completely satisfied.

Awful, Just Awful - Bad Food, Bad Drinks, Bad Service. I recently spent an evening at Mad River, and I can say, without a doubt, I will never be going back. The food seems to be well covered in other reviews, so I will just say I was unimpressed. The service was atrocious, and when we brought this to the management's attention, they were flippant and disrespectful. I frequent serveral bars similar this, so I don't expect much in the "service and management" department, but the staff at Mad River left such a bad taste in our mouth that I can't see myself ever giving them another red cent. My adivce, unless you see an "Under New Management" and "New Chef" sign hanging out front, stay away.

Great Food, Great Crowd. I recently met some friends at Mad river on a friday night, we had a great time My dinner was excellent and the bar picked up after dinner and we had a great time. I was crowded but not so bad that you couldn't move. I reccomend this place for a great night out.

Hopefully you're reading all the reviews, not just the first one.. This place was so terrible I had to write a review. After looking at the reviews, it's clear that someone with a stake in the establishment is giving these "not so bad" reviews. This place is simply the worst resturaunt I've ever eaten it. The worst food, the worst service and the worst layout conceivable. I have been once to eat and a few times for drinks and the place is never crowded. The only good thing about this place is television embedded in the wall of each booth. But I'd rather eat at home and watch my own television.

This place won't last long at all.

Loved the food!. I must have gone here on a better night than the other reviewers because I really liked the food! I visited this place with 5 friends and we were all very happy with what we ordered. I'll admit the food is not gourmet - but it seems like it is when compared to the average bar food! I reccommend the flatbread and the wings! The service was great - our waitress was all over our table and she was really adorable. This bar is big and had a pretty good crowd for a Wednesday night. The night we were there they had live music. We had a great time and we will be back!
