Authentic South Indian Food
by marinash at Citysearch
One of the best, most authentic South Indian food in the Chicago area. They serve north indian food as well although I always try different south indian dishes. I am south indian and am very picky about my food. I've been to this less known place umpteen number of times and have never been disappointed. The service is okay but the food is heavenly. For people not familiar with South Indian food or for the people who think they are (there's more to south indian food than Dosa, Idli and Vada), you're in for a pleasant surprise. My wife is Greek and she loves this place as well. Just go with an open mind and try out their food. They also have weekend buffet and it is pretty decent. They recently added Seafood, lamb and chicken to their menu
- Pros: Authentic Tasty food
- Cons: Interior decor needs some revamp
Daylight Veggery
by colinsilveira at Citysearch
That is daylight vegeterian robbery. The place smells awful and serves equally tasteless and unappetizing vegeterian food that does not even come close to south indian cuisine.
The service is good but please make sure that you tip the wait staff directly rather than add it to the bill. Most Indian restaurants I know, keep the tips for themselves rather than hand it to their wait staff.
I foolishly broke my own rule.
The buffet was bad, the sambar was tasteless and watery, the puris were rock hard and grease filled, potato bhaji was like baby waste, the Chinese potatos were stale and greasy, the chinese rice was filled with black pepper, everything was just awful. I am not sure how this restaurant even passes the health inspector tests. I can only imagine what the kitchen is like.
So besides the kind waiters and the service, avoid this place at all costs if you want to eat and live.
