Amazing and authentic. I spent a year living in Japan, and fell in love with tonkatsu- breaded, deep-fried pork cutlets. When I left Japan I felt certain that I would probably never get to eat this wonderful dish again. Imagine my surprise when a tonkatsu restaurant opened only 5 minutes from my home! I went hoping that it would equal what I had eaten in Japan, and was pleasantly surprised that it not only tasted as good as I remembered, but was served in a lovely space, with friendly staff and an amazing menu.

Takkatsu serves a wide variety of tonkatsu dishes, including traditional pork, as well as chicken and shrimp. My favorite is the Katsu curry, though the downside of that dish is that it is not served with the fresh chopped cabbage that comes with the other dishes. Every dinner is served with rice and a choice of soup, although you may already be full from the many wonderful appetizers!

The best thing about Takkatsu is the service. The staff is consistently friendly and polite, and they are always suggesting things that will improve your dining experience, such as trying different types of sauces. The food is served promptly, and though it is a somewhat small space, we've never had to wait long for a table. I recently moved out of the area, but every time I come to visit, Takkatsu is on my list of places to go!

A Rare Find.. Upscale without being overly formal, this small restaurant boasts Japanese fare that is hard to find outside of Mitsuwa Marketplace, and harder to match in quality outside of Japan itself. They do not serve sushi, so do not go there expecting it. Instead, guests are treated to a variety of fried meats served with a special tonkatsu sauce. My first time there, I opted for the curry, which was just as magnificent as their specialty.

What strikes me about the place is the service. The staff is unfailingly polite, helpful, and prompt. Every time I return, it seems as if the people get friendlier.

Takkatsu is a must-visit for anyone in the northwest suburbs. Go for the curry, stay for the tonkatsu, and come back for the wonderful service.

Amazing food, wonderful service!. I'm not one to write reviews on-line, but this restaurant deserves all the attention it can get! A friend had recently been to Japan for a year and developed a love for tonkatsu, a deep fried pork cutlet in a tasty tonkatsu sauce. She brought me to Takkatsu and we've been loyal customers ever since! You usually can't get food like this outside of Japan, but Takkatsu brings this Japanese favorite to the US. With Kurobuta pork (the Kobe beef for pork), amazing Japanese curry, fantastic service and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, this restaurant is a must for anyone visiting the Northwest suburbs.

Great tonkatsu. i was there w/ grandma, mom, and bro for lunch on saturday. we had to wait a few mins for a table but it was very well worth the wait. we got a Tatsuta Age (fried chicken strips) for appetizer, three order of Kurobuta Rosu Special (Special black berkshire pork) and one order Salmon Fry (fried breaded salmon). the pork chop was very tender cuz it was black pork. wasnt dry or tough. this is a MUST TRY restaurant. we will definitely be going back. the servers and boss are very nice and helpful. the service was always with a smile. the 2 hr free parking lot is also a PLUS.
