Fantastic spot in Oak Park - the market offers cheese, wine and other treats, while the restaurant has lovely sandwiches and other dishes.

With a cheese selection that'll bring tears of joy to your eyes and an incredibly delicious bistro diner, this is the place to go for artisan foods and a healthy education on sustainability. Marion Street Cheese Market is a member of Chicago's Guaranteed Green Restaurant Coalition, which means they are dedicated to the environment while running a thumbs up establishment filled with love.

Love this spot for craft beer & wine, local artisan foods, a great cafe & of course, cheese! Staff is knowledgeable. Try the grilled cheese!

Great concept, but ventilate that kitchen!. This place would be a regular hangout of mine as I live and work just down the street. I quit going because spending 5 minutes inside results in my clothes strongly smelling like i had been standing in front of the kitchen exhaust fan all night. It's a real disappointment too, because it's a very nice place and the owner spared little expense in the design. Certainly can't go there for lunch and smell like that at the office.

The usual messed up orders are forgivable as the staff is very friendly and comps are frequent, but the delays in getting the correct order make visits long. They were getting better at this the last time i went, however.

I'll stick my nose in the door in a couple months to see if the problem is resolved.

<Update 4-2010>

Smell is a little bit better, but service is even slower than before. Meat and cheese selections in the market area are fantastic.

Unique and delicious. The Marion Street Cheese Market is phenomenal for a light meal or drinks. They have a wide variety of cheeses to choose from so you can design you own cheese flights, or some pre-made flights to help take the guess work out of it. Their beer and champagne flights are a real treat as well. They do have regular meals there as well and they are delicious. The soups are wonderful and I just went in for Sunday brunch and had a bagel with smoked salmon, capers, and pickled onions and boy was it amazing! Not to mention the to die for blood-orange mimosas! Go to this place as soon as you can!
