Great Cajun food in IL. We visit Moe Joe's frequently because we LOVE the authentic Cajun food and the New Orleans Cajun atmosphere.

The staff treats us like royalty every time we visit.

The menu is unlike any other restaurant in the surrounding area, and is reasonably priced.

Everyone in my family has become seriously addicted to the "melt in your mouth" steaks and cajun burgers, the jambalaya, ribbon fries!

The deserts are out of this world, and since we're usually too full to eat them, we take them home for later.

Food stinks. The staff sucks and are full of excuses it only took 40 min to get our drinks. When the food was served it was cold and they only prepared 3 out of 4 of the dishes. What a joke!

Moe Joe's is a jewel to Plainfield. Best restaurant in the burbs! Plainfield is lucky to have such a jewel in their downtown! The hour drive south is completely worth it. Can't get a steak that melts in your mouth, fresh oysters with such great texture, & flavors that will have you always come back, even in Naperville, that we found at this little cajun place. Moe Joe's has IT! So many places claim to be fine dining & they are just ok. Moe joe's IS Fine Dining, but with a modest approach with a refreshingly fun & out of the ordinary atmosphere. Keep this place on your site, they'll someday be a landmark to their town if not already a destination point to the people coming to visit.

Not the best food that I've had, but it was okay...‎. I heard and read such great things about this place so I was excited to go since I am always on my quest to find the best Cajun food in the Chicagoland area.

The decoration is kind of like Bourbon Street meets Gothic. Maybe that was their interpretation of Voodoo.

The service was a bit slow, even though there were not a lot of people in the dining area. I received some cornbread and with cinnamon butter. The cornbread was fine, although it would have been better if it had been sweeter, and could have had less of a gritty texture. I am not the biggest fan of cinnamon on my cornbread either.

I wished that the server was a little more knowledgeable about the spices that were actually used in the food.

I had red beans and rice, which was pretty good and authentic tasting. I also got crawfish etouffee, but that was not that great. It was spicy, but not flavorful. There was too much butter in it as well.

There were some "french fry" type of homemade potato chips that had seasoning on them, but it was still kind of strange. The fried catfish was fried well, but the batter did not have enough seasoning in it. Fried catfish needs to have seasoning so that it is not bland. The mashed potatos were fine, but were forgettable.

I got some vanilla ice cream with strawberries, cherries, and whipped cream that was awesome, but that is hard to mess up. I also got beignets, but I would have liked them even more if they were not as thick. They were thoroughly caked on both sides with powdered sugar, and I am used to the ones in Louisiana that has the powdered sugar sprinkled just on top so that there is a contrasting taste of fried dough and sugar.

Overall, good Cajun food makes you want to eat it until you hurt. This did not make me want to finish it, let alone eat my leftovers. Crawfish etouffee usually tastes even better on the second day, but not this dish. I ended up just throwing it away.

Best food in Plainfield, IL....Best Cajun in the world!. Moe Joe's is the best restaurant in Plainfield and all of Will County! They have a unique menu that is the cure for the food boredom blues. The atmosphere is very cool too. The dining room has a outdoor Bourbon Street feel, and the waitresses wear fun punk rockish outfits. they have a great beer , martini, and wine selection. This restaurant is so out of the ordinary, it feels like it should be located in a trendy Chicago neighborhood.
