Best EYEBROW THREADING in the city!! Hands down.. Walk right in, $7.00, and don't worry about conversing with Carmen's. The staff is fine, no complaints. This is the only place that knows how to thread eyebrows correctly and shape them beautifully. Never ever will you leave with pencil thin eyebrows. Amazing.
Not for everyone, but simple things are fine. If you're really picky about how your hair is done, this might not be for you. I have used it to get simple trims which was fine and not too expensive, and I was always helped within 10 minutes because I just walk-in, I don't make appointments. The girls who have done my hair always do a fine job, but it's simple, and I have heard for styles they are not exceptional. I have had the eyebrow threading, and they always do a good job with that as well. The staff isn't the friendliest but it is a quick and easy option for me.
Would not advise. I used to be a long-time customer of Carmen. For $25, you can get a very decent haircut. Hm! I always called a week or two in advance to make an appointment: just don't have time for waiting. Once I came to the salon, and I was told that it was not the right time, later they admitted that an employee screwed something up with the schedule. The time before the last, I had to sit and wait for half an hour (before, it used to be 10-15 minutes), and nobody even said sorry to me. I was upset but thought to myself "Oh, well, they might have been very busy". In July, I made my last appointment. I came at 11:55 am (my appointment was for 12 pm), was very happy to see that Carmen was almost done with a customer. At 12:00 pm one couple walked in, and asked if Carmen could color the woman's hair . Carmen agreed to do it in less than 1 hour. She took the girl in and started to wash her hair. I was kinda surprised and went to the receptionist. He barked at me that he had to sit and wait at the doctor's office for more than 1 hour and he never complained. Ha, I would never compare doctors and barbers... I was upset but I really needed a haircut because in two days I had to fly overseas. I wish I had left right away - my mistake! In a couple of minutes, the receptionist (who is the owner, actually) told me to go and wait on Carmen's chair. He told me that Carmen wanted just to mix some color. I waited ten minutes, twenty, twenty-five. Afterwards, I got up and wanted to leave. Carmen finally showed up and told me that she was ready for me! I told her that I didn't need any haircut. She started screaming (!!!) that she always found tme for me and put me between her customers (and who am I?). I tried to argue that I never ever walk in and always make appointments in advance. She screamed even louder about how unthankful I was (?). The receptionist told my husband (he came with me) that Carmen never wanted to see me again. Do you want to experience that service?
