Horrid Experience All Around
by angh32 at Citysearch
The highlight of this meal was that we had a groupon and did not pay full price. My fiance and I went yesterday and it being Valentine's Day we called ahead last week to see if we needed reservations. Erica told us no we did not but when we got there at 6:30 last night, yes you did. "Luckily" for us we only had to wait about 5-10 minutes for a table. We ordered our margaritas and guacamole and they brought us the standard chips and salsa. While the margarita's were quite big for the price I'm still trying to find the tequila in mine. The chips, salsa and guac, I will say, were pretty good. We ordered our entree's and about 15 minutes later they brought my full fajita dinner out and then the waitress giggles and says I'm sorry I forgot to push the button on yours (to my fiance) it will be right out....what we learned about 15-20 minutes later was she didnt put his order in at all. So here we sit with my food in front of me and nothing for him. I find it rude to eat when my date has nothing so I didn't touch my food. Naturally when they brought his and we began to eat, mine was already cold. The saving grace in that was it had zero taste so it really wouldn't have mattered if it was warm or not. To make up for the error the waitress offers us a complimentary dessert. Which I thought was nice, however, it took another 20 minutes to get a scoop of vanilla ice cream and hard, tasteless churros (a dessert she recommended to us). We got no refills or offers for refills for our cocktails and we had to practically tackle the bus boy for more water. This restaurant would have gotten zero stars if not for the groupon and the waitresses attempt to make up for the poor service. Two and half hours were wasted in this restaurant and needless to say we will not be going back.
So not worth it

I only have two things to say about this place: over-priced, and tasteless. Don't bother. Get on the bus and head over to Pilsen instead.
- Pros: Ambience was ok, very dark. Has a nice small bar area and small outdoor seating.
- Cons: The food was completely bland and tasteless.
Awesome Mexican food, Great Margaritas, Great Tequila list
by perron1 at Citysearch
I have been going to this place for about 2 years. The food was good in the beginning, but it got better about a year ago. The margaritas are really good. Their food is really authentic. I know b/c my parents are from Mexico City and I lived there for 3 years. Almost everything that I have tried here is very authentic. I am a tequila lover, and they have a great tequila list. They servers and bartenders are great. If you ever need anything, one of the owners is usually there to accomodate. Very friendly, great service, great drinks, great atmosphere, and great food.
- Pros: Food, service, drinks, ambience
- Cons: Parking
Comparing this place to Taco Bell is an insult--- to Taco Bell

The chips were burned, cold, and not crispy and the salsa was green and tasteless. The chimichanga was also very very dark, you couldn't cut the fried tortilla shell with a fork, and the meat inside was dry and tasted like cardboard. It ws terrible. Literally the worst chimi I have ever had and I have eaten hundreds of chicken chimichangas. The beans looked like they were out of can and the spanish rice out of an envelope. The only saving grace was that my $6.95 margarita was decent but a little pricey for a small. My favorite mexican restaurant in my home town charges $.99 for a small or $6.00 for a whole pitcher on Thursday nights and they are potent. $24.00 including tip for one entree and a small margarita plus $10 for a cab was a little much for such a bad experience. Judging by the number of customers in there tonight this place won't be around long although it did look like they were doing some delivery business. However, bad mexican food is bad mexican food whether its delivered or eaten inside the restaurant. This place would be perfect for Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares.
- Pros: It's hard to screw up a margarita
- Cons: burned hard chips, dry dry meat, bland taste, bad beans, testeless rice, overpriced
Best Margaritas in the city!
by maduana at Citysearch
La Cantina has the BEST margaritas in the city. Every Friday there is a great little duo that sings. They are as good as the food. I love their Pollo a la Brasa and ceviche. There is no other place like this in the Loop or South Loop. I work in the Loop and we go there for lunch all the time. They have a great lunch menu with lower prices and quick service. Highly recommended.
- Pros: Food, Ambience
- Cons: Parking
