Tips for Chicago Ghost Investigations

July 10, 2012

AMAZING! I have been on the investigation 2 times, and will be back again for sure. a spirit came through that said it was connected to me, I did not recognize the 2 names that our group got, but after I looked up a family newsletter from my grandfather which he always includes some of our family history dating back to when our ancestors came over on the Mayflower. Sure enough there was the names, It was my great-great-great grandmother and one of her sons. I was not aware of the names and details.... there was no way anyone there could have been so accurate unless my grandpa himself was there feeding the info. but he is in Cali. I reccomend believers and non-believers alike, give it a try, it is a great experience!

My husband, 12 year old son and I booked an investigation for this past Sunday night. We had a great time, learned a lot and definitely came away less skeptical than when we came in. Our guide did a great job and went above and beyond to make it a great experience from start to finish. We try to travel to Chicago at least every other year and will add this to our list to do.

You have gotta be kidding me..... We were SO excited for our ghost hunting tour! We walked into the experience ready to be scared silly.

Everybody meets at the "field office" and we get an introduction to the equipment we will be using. An EMF detector, a temp gun, and divining rods. The website also promises a digital thermal scanner (that they MAY get NEXT year) and night vision cameras. They only had ONE operational night vision camera, and there were 3 groups. None of the groups ever saw the camera, but it didn't matter as all the lights were on anyway. :-/

The "super spooky haunted warehouse" was actually an artist work space. Lots of residents coming and going, and ALL of them looking at us in amusement. (They probably couldn't believe we paid money for this...)

We were split into THREE groups, and the TWO guides took us to different areas of the building. Our group was led down the hallway, and told to look at our equipment to see if we were picking up any activity. We were standing in a hallway, fully lit, electrical devices all around us and *SHOCKER!* the EMF device indicated a change. The guide then had us stop and try to contact a spirit. Then, she left us standing there to go check on another group.

We were no longer getting readings on any devices, so we stood there, in a well lit hallway, waiting for our guide to take us to a different location. The other guide came for us, and we asked to try somewhere else, the hallway was kinda boring.

The guide took us to the first floor about 15 ft from a pepsi vending machine! OOOOO scary! Then he asked us to check our readings....nothing. He says, "Well, lets just try to contact a ghost." Then....he left to check on another group.

We stood there for about 45 MINUTES before we decided to look for our guide. We remembered someone saying something about taking a group to the 7th floor, so we found an elevator and actually found the group, standing in a hallway. The guide was annoyed that we interrupted them, and quickly led us down the hallway to talk to us. We told her that we were NOT satisfied, the experience SUCKED, and we wanted our money back.

She says, "Well, lets try to contact a ghost right here." Um, why? Is there something haunted about the hallway in front of room 712? Of course, nothing happened, because we weren't interested in just making some crap up. Guess we're no fun.

Our guide told us she would call the owner of the business to see what she could do about a refund, and we should expect to hear from him soon.

Brian called the next day, and we were told they do not offer refunds. After about an hour on the phone, he told my friend that the best he could do was to refund $35 to our group (we spent $140) and he would also "hook us up" with two free vouchers for another ghost tour with this company. I told him this was unacceptable, and he eventually agreed to a full refund, but not until he told me that our group was high maintenance and had too much negative energy.

This ghost tour was complete crap. We were excited and open to experience the best of a Chicago haunting! Instead, we were left in a fully lit hallway and told to ask yes or no questions to see if we got an answer.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!

I am Brian and I own CGI. We respect all customers but this group caused problems from the time they arrived so we focused on the other two groups that were focused and positive. They were skeptics and the other guests requested to keep their distance from them. As you can tell there seem to be some "issues" and I am sure anybody they come across will feel that. Thanks and good luck.

Best Ghost Tour!!!. My friends and I went on the tour in August. It was AWESOME!!! We had so much fun. Our tour Guide (Lisa) was amazing. We has one person in the group that was afraid but Lisa made her feel so comfortable. I did feel the spirits is the building. My husband was not a believer in spirits but after the tour he has changed his mind.

Thanks Chicago Ghost Investigations for the great experience.

Best Ghost Hunt EVER!!!. I was visiting Chicago from California and saw the Chicago Ghost Investigations web site. I bought the dvd, (downloaded) and was hooked. I made a special effort with a very good friend of mine to attend one of these investigations. It was the most awesome, memorable experience of my life. I actually had the opportunity to speak to the ghosts, and it was amazing. It is a very intense experience, and I intend to go back for more. I actually got names from these ghosts. Anyone that thinks it is not worth the money, is not as serious as I was about this type of thing.

The staff knows what they are doing, and helps guide, but you are the one doing the research. The time of my life! The next time there is a cheap flight to Chicago, I am there...

Save your money.. Pfft. $45-$55 for a tour? I got news for you people. Go to the library or use Google. You will find all of the stories and locations that these so called tour guides want to charge you for. If you are in to the paranormal, there are plenty of ghost groups in Chi-town that use gimmicky equipment, but the only difference is that they don't charge. You can also start your own group, but if you are lazy or a tourist, $45-$55 for a tour is a deal.
