South Loop haven for everything from breakfast to boozin'.. Buzzing morning, noon and night, this casual three-floor bar and restaurant hybrid shifts moods as daylight waxes and wanes. First thing, museum-bound tourists slide into booths for morning sustenance; later, lunch breakers escape nearby offices to gossip over Monte Cristos. Come happy hour, however, the lower-level lounge and year-round, palm-punctuated rooftop bar floods with martini-slurping colleagues sporting loosened ties. Chipotle-glazed wings are finger-licking fodder, and there are mini burger baskets, steak sandwiches and BLT clubs for the dinner crowd.

Eat right day and night at this casually upscale Loop diner with a coveted outdoor patio.. In Short:
Thank the crew behind Hollywood Grill and White Palace Grill for this Loop diner, a decidedly more upscale take on the post-dinner and early morning scene. Walls don old Chicago photography, and there's plenty of counter, table and booth seating to go around. In addition to egg-topped skillets and chilaquiles, diners also can dig into dishes like chili rellenos and stuffed pork loin. A liquor license means brisk after-work business too.

Fabulous coffee shop!. This is a fabulous coffee shop in an area that really needed one, between the Federal buildings on Jackson and the library. We visit the nearby Standard Club every October for a fundraiser. That block was always very desolate looking with a boarded up restaurant. Now the boards are off and a bright new coffee shop with a cool retro neon sign illuminates Plymouth Court. Food is great, service incredible and prices very reasonable. We went there three times over a weekend stay.
