February 14, 2013

They're some of the prettiest cupcakes and Swirlz cakes come in flavors like brownie batter and mint chocolate chip.

The peanut butter cup cupcakes are ridiculous. In a good way. If you're on a healthier kick, try the vegan-friendly options - they're surprisingly not dried out.

LUV LUV LUV THIS PLACE!!!. A very dear friend of mine is a Lt. with the Chicago Fired Dept. I've ordered these cupcakes twice and had them delivered to him and his guys at the Firehouse. Very speedy delivery. The guys absolutely loved em but were a little apprehensive to actually eat them as they looked so absolutely beautiful - they joked it was a shame to eat them and not just admire them. And they were also skeptical that something that looked so pretty could also actually taste so darn yummy. To their amazement not only did the cupcakes look absolutely beautiful, they were also quite delicious. I've also stopped by and picked some up for myself and fell in love with this place. Both times I ordered for delivery the were courteous, professional and provided very quick delivery - the 2nd time within an hour of me calling. (this was referring to another posting I read elsewhere)...As for the person who said you could get something of equal quality at Jewel or Dominick's - augh absolutely NOT! Grocery store cupcakes have that horrid "frosting" - these have an assortment of frosting flavors with out that nasty pasty leave a film in your mouth frosting on grocery store cupcakes. This place is very much of a gourmet high quality bakery. The colors and flavors are just perfect - not too sugary, and definitely NOT too bland. Everything is made fresh daily and as with any bakery the early bird should go early for the best selection.

Eh.... This place was frustrating in that it is super tiny so it feels a bit cramped & rushed, therefore it isn't a very comfortable place to sit (if you can grab one of the two tables in there). To me this place seems more of an 'adult' cupcake shop: the cupcakes are subdued in flavor (not as sweet as, say, Mandy B's) and the flavors are more mature (such as rasberry), plus its more of a grab & go atmosphere. I went in the afternoon and there were only two flavors left to choose from. I grew up in areas that never even had cupcake shops, so to me this place is still considered gourmet (which I think is what they were going for). If you like your cupcakes less sweet & less colorful, and simply just want to grab one and go I would recommend this place. My favorite, however, is still Mandy Bs (both for their cupcakes and for their atmosphere); much tastier & less expensive!

Tiny shop dishes up a rotating line of classy cupcakes to eat in or take out.. In Short
Pastel swirls on the ceiling and soothing brown walls enclose this tiny Lincoln Park cupcake shop. Friendly salespeople dish up regular options like chocolate, vanilla and red velvet, or rotating specials such as cappuccino, carrot cake and vanilla pomegranate. Cupcakes combine a dense cake bottom with elegantly swirled butter-cream frostings. Coffees, juices and water are also for sale.
