North Center coffeehouse that's serious about quality joe.. Neighborhood vegans and their caffeine-loving friends make a beeline to this funky coffeehouse for animal-free eats and single-origin coffee, manually brewed using a time-intensive process called Chemex that brings out the beans’ unique flavors. Cozily mismatched furniture, local art and an antique pressed tin ceiling add up to alluring environs for laptop-toting locals looking to take advantage of the cafe’s free WiFi. Even carnivores will be impressed by the tofu “egg” breakfast sandwich, made with convincing veggie sausage, and vegan cinnamon rolls, muffins and cakes from local bakery Fritz Pastry.

Coffee for Coffee Lovers. There are bars in town that tout the best Guinness...In fact, Guinness sends reps out to test the lines and the taps. They are authorized to remove the beer if it is under par. Too bad coffee shops are not that carefully monitored! I would remove every push-button espresso machine in the city. To think we pay AND TIP upwards of 4-5 bucks for what amounts to an espresso dispenser! That is NOT the case at Stubb's Coffee in North Center. Located just one block south of Martyr's Nightclub and one block north of Trader Joe's, this caffeine haven restores the sense of coffee as art. The vibe is friendly to the point of being like home...only nicer. I drive past 2 Starbucks to get there. Sometimes, I'm forced to stop at Starbucks to pick up a New York Times but I head right out to Stubb's afterwards to read it with a cup of real cappucino ( made with locally brewed, freshly ground, espresso). If you have been wondering why coffee is just a ritual that is on a par with your morning workout and daily grind, try Stubb's to remember what you really LIKE about it. Free Wi Fi, art on the walls, light food available....but the focus is on the real deal.

ONE OF CHICAGO'S BEST INDEPENDENT COFFEE SHOPS. Good prices. Friendly service. Comfortable setting. Amusing artwork. Excellent coffee. Refreshing teas. Delicious pastries. Free WiFi with purchase. These are just some of the reason I love going to Stubbs. I like to do business with independent coffee shops and Stubbs is my all-around favorite for miles and miles around. (Metropoiis on Granville is a close second, but it isn't anywhere near as cozy and personal.) This is one great asset to our neighborhood and I hope they're there for a long, long time.

great neighborhood coffee spot. stubbs is a great addition to our neighborhood; however, on many occasions the staff needs a tiny boost of happiness. they seem a bit dark in their service style. they've definitely wone me as a customer but need to get their mocha skills in check on tuesdays. and it would be great if sandwich purchases were available in the a.m. and/or their bagels were able to be served toasted vs. cold hard discs of morning.

cheers to the owners & well wishes for the future!
