Love this bar!. Great place to watch sports!!!! Perfect for before/after the Sox games too. Always have new beers and specials going on. Patio area is great in the spring/summer to just hang out or play bags. The bartenders are always friendly and the crowd is great too!!! Play the jukebox, darts, boxing game, or just relax. I definatey will be going there more often!

The Best Time of My Life!!. I've been on three dates in the last year with three different women and this was the winner--the bar I mean.

She said she felt so at peace and comfortable there. On Thursday and Friday night, you'll find two different crowds but always warm and friendly and enthusiastic about sports.

I've never seen a Chicago Blackhawks crowd like this one. The owner handed out red rally towels to really get in the moment. I tipped the bartenders extra because they were quick and smart.

Drinks were perfect.

Girls were beautiful.

Location was ideal.

Don't mind coming back again when I'm on the South Side. And now that the Blackhawks are in the hunt for a Dynasty, this will be the place to watch games when not at the United Center.

My favorite place for a Guinness in Chicago. I've been coming here for years and it gets better everytime I come here. Everytime. I came here after a Sox-Royals game and it was packed but they found a way to accomodate the whole crowd, were friendly enough to recognize that I spent a lot of money and comp'd us at times. They know their beers and the women are beautiful but they weren't a lot of them.

You never know what kind of crowd will turn up, but they're always friendly and warm. I love it here.

DISAPPOINTMENT ABOUNDS!. In all fairness it is true that Mitchells had some big shoes to fill. Did they? Absolutely not! This place is horrible. The staff is rude, the crowd is young, loud and at times threatening and there is no live entertainment, unless you count the weekly brawls. During Sox Season this place is packed and it looks like that is all that the owners care about. They bartenders are polite to the Sox Crowds that pour in but it becomes so crowded that you cannot even get comfortable. I would so not recommend this place to a friend!

What happened to that Bridgeport charm?. This is a very average bar. When Puffer's was opened, you were sure to have a good time, good conversations and good drinks. This new owner seems to have abandoned what made this bar such a GOOD neighborhood tavern. No more live bands, no good music and AWFUL bartenders. Also, the crowd is very young (many underage) which makes for cliqueish behavior. I miss the nights I was able to walk in and see familiar faces, challenge old friends to darts and dance. The drinks are average priced, you won't be breaking the bank here. The service is decent, although not really friendly (forget about chit chatting with these new folks). It seems to me they're trying very hard to make this into a trendy, "north side" bar with WILL NOT WORK. I think many Bridgeport natives will agree with me, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Skip it the bad service and 'tude. This place no longer character. Some of the bartenders are rude and prefer to serve watered-down drinks. I would recommend going a few minutes north on Halsted and having a beer at Morgans or Dugins.

The service is outstanding. You walk in and feel the warmest environment.. It's like a home away from home. I went to about 15 Sox games in 2006 season and I didn't miss a single game from Mitchell's. I love the jukebox, darts, bags and backyard barbecues. It's just laidback and friendly. It also has some of the best martinis you could buy for $5 in the world. The bartenders are my favorite and the owner is also personable and warm. This is the place to be for Sox games. I've also had free food many times.

Neighborhood bar caters to Sox fans with good beer selection and cheap prices.. The Scene
Named for owners and brothers Bruce and Chuck Puffer, this one-room bar is near U.S. Cellular Field and provides standard bar must-haves: three TVs (a fourth is brought out during ballgames), long bar, several tables, darts and three video games. Lighting is dim, not dark, and radio staples--everything from the Go-Go's to James Brown--emanate from the jukebox. South Side locals occupy most barstools; bartenders are quick to notice an empty glass or conversation-starved drinker. During the warmer months, patrons take advantage of the outdoor patio.

The Draw
Most cocktails and all beers are under $5. The bar serves more than 30 microbrews, and while there are always nine beers on tap, seasonal and less-essential selections change every so often to keep the draft offerings pleasing. Puffer's food menu is limited to chips, but as the barstaff points out, guests can order from one of the many nearby restaurants and have it delivered.
