Serene, elegant restaurant in Lincoln Park presents artfully prepared dishes that don't compromise on authentic Mexican tastes..
In Short
Warm reds and yellows, vibrant Aztec artwork and intimately arranged tables exude a convivial yet slightly upscale ambience at this neighborhood restaurant. Patrons range from mature couples to families and groups. A selection of big meats (steaks, pork chops and rib-eye) rules the dinner menu, along with fish and seafood. Exotic sauces are prominent, from Oaxacan black mole in a New Zealand rack of baby lamb dish to tangerine sauce in coconut pie.

Great authentic Mexican dining experience.
We've dined at Tepatulco three times, most recently about a month ago. My wife is Mexican and my adult daughters have spent time in Mexico and are all quite picky about Mexican food (as am I) - we had most of the dishes on the menu and loved all of them (not to mention the margaritas, with respect to which I myself am especially picky). The third time we went with friends from out of town, one of whom is also Mexican and both of whom are world travelers - they had the same reaction we did. My wife also judges the food to be quite authentic (unlike, say, Topolobampo).
One caveat: each time we were there we dined in the patio - the interior looks far less inviting, though that would not deter us from going back even if it is too cold to sit outdoors. Also, on at least one occasion the service was a bit slow, though the waiter was apologetic, and the staff in general has been friendly.

Great New Addition to the Neighborhood!.
At last we have a decent and upscale Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood. Outstanding Margaritas -shaken at your table Frontera Style - and great, "not typical" Mexican fare. The shrimp with chipoltle cream sauce is great, my husband really enjoyed the Carne Asade and the Chicken enchiladas are very tasty. This is not your typical burrito as big as your head and a plate full of beans and rice kind of place. This is much more sophiscated and upscale and a resfreshing change compared to what a dump this place used to be. Of course the prices are a bit higher but you get what you pay for! Delicious food, Fun and cheery design, nice & knowledgeable waitstaff too. Give them a break as they are brand new. Only kind of strange thing is that they bring bread and butter to your table. Not quite sure why, they should bring homemade tortilla chips with a homemade dipping sauce of some kind instead. Support your local neighborhood places! This one is a keeper! Can't wait for summer to enjoy the outdoor patio with some shaken margaritas!
