Editorial Review for Republic – by Fred Schlatter
In Short
The non-descript facade and glass foyer belie the vast interior. A front room features cushy lounge seating, custom wrought railings good for leaning, a thick marble bar, and sway-inducing pop. Globular, colored glass lamps are in clusters throughout. The real action happens beyond the curtains, where an acre of hardwood dance floor is punctuated by pedestals for preening booty-shakers, a stage, more lounging options and an additional bar. Techno--from pop remixes to weightier house--dominates the loud system.

Insider Tips
Look GoodThis latest incarnation of the often-flipped address is from Mark Bortz--the man behind a few Weed Street and surrounding nightspots such as Hogs n' Honeys and Boutique.
Know Before You GoUnlike many clubs that masquerade as lounges, or lounges that double as dance clubs, Republic bills itself as dance destination through and through.

Republic was a NIGHTMARE...extremely rude and unprofessional people. I hosted a party for some out of town girl friends, and I decided to give Republic a try. The website allowed you to book a bachelorette party online. I entered my credit card number thinking I was paying for VIP admission, one free drink for each girl, and a champagne toast for the bachelorette. It stated that someone would contact me, it never happened. I called the day of the reservation to confirm that they received the reservation. The lady on the phone informed me that their website was down, but that it was no big deal, she would put my name on the list. When we got there, VIP admission did not exist, and the bouncer was extremely rude and NOT professional or classy at all. Bouncers must be very aggressive and I totally understand, HOWERVER, this guy totally did not understand what it means to represent an attempt at a classy establishment. I mentioned to him that it was unfortunate that not many people were being very nice to us because we were there to have a good time and spend a lot of money. He replied with "I can actually be very mean to you right now by not letting you in here." After we were "greeted" by the bouncer, the guy with the VIP list probably had about a 5th grade education, he could not manage the list in front of him and he didn't understand that we had purchased a party package. I am not even sure that he spoke any English, because I would try to talk to him and he wouldn't speak directly to me. I told him I wanted to speak to a manager and after about 30 minutes, the "hostess" came down to speak to me (Jessica). She was halfway professional , but spoke down to me and didn't make any apologies upfront. We did finally get our champagne toast and she sat us at a table. Once we were in, we realized the place was EMPTY! But by then I was fuming and it I was just done so we left. This is absolutely the WORST night club I have ever been to.
Pros: None
Cons: Service is awful and you will have to deal with rude staff that don't know what they are doing

I have been going to REPUBLIC from the start and what i like the most is that right from start you feel like you count while you are inside bartenders and the rest of staff are friendly and treat you well, dance area is big and fun with a few dance boxes were we jump and had a ball, great sound an lights not to much but thats what i like about REPUBLIC that is not too much like other clubs, that fell cold and like you are just a number a the door republic has a personality of its own and i will continue going with my friends i have meet some good looking people there too.
Pros: MUSIC, VALET, PARKING
Cons: NONE
