“It is also a very clean store, the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable and the puppie are very well taken care of.”
Good Experience. First let me say there is no better place to purchase a puppy. Their website describes a purchase as an adoption, which was a little confusing but their message is that you are choosing a family member which I now understand. I had to fill out a questionnaire and sit down for a 45 minute meeting to go over my Yorkies feeding schedule, registration and shot records. My Yorkie also came with a micro chip and pedigree. Not a typical pet shop or chain. They do care and it shows.
Knowledgable Staff. Large selection small dog items, we get special kind of that doesn't have any additives for our dog and they had it at a good price. We also bought our dog there and he loves the special bones they have. Prior to buying our dog we did look into other places but found them to be the most knowledable and helpful. We're very pleased.
I Visit Whenever I Can. I live in the neighborhood and all my neighbors seem to have puppies from Pocket Puppies. Their reputation is pretty good and they have a nice website. All the pictures of their dogs are updated weekly and they have a ton of testimonials from customers on their website. I've yet to purchase a dog from there but when I do I will probably get one from there.
Money Saving Experience. Today (July 2nd, 2011) at 7:23 pm I went to Pocket Puppies with the intention of purchasing 3 puppies but they were closed. I started to look through the window to see the puppies, and one of their rude employee saw me looking and switched off the lights abruptly! After reading these reviews I would like to thank that dark hair, medium length, curly haired employee (female) for saving me from aggravation and for saving my money. I don't even think they deserve a ZERO rating, that's giving them too much credit. Also, their bedside manner leaves much to be desired!!
Love of my life. I see many people have different experiences with pocket puppies. My personal experience happened to turn out quite well. I don't just have one pocket puppy but two! I have a teacup yorkie who at 2 years old is 4 pounds and a teacup chihuahua who is 1 at 3 pounds. They both are healthy little energetic monsters who I love dearly. The owner and their associates were quite pleasant with me and even let our little cameron stay a couple extra days because we weren't ready for him at home. My dogs are true to their expected size and we do see a different vet than the suggest. But everything is perfect and I could not be any happier.
ANIMAL LOVERS BEWARE - DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ORGANIZATION!.
Do NOT support this business and do NOT give them your money! If I could give them zero stars, I would. Take a look around and you will see there are way too many negative reviews about this place, and for good reason!
For all the money you are going to spend (and believe me, their dogs are very expensive!) do you really want to take a 50/50 chance that your dog will be sick, undernourished, inbred, or not what you paid for?
I urge everyone to contact the BBB Chicago and report this place immediately! The breeders that they go through are not reputable and Pocket Puppies doesn't care about their customers, the dogs, or anyone who walks through those doors.
After doing our homework we decided to purchase a teacup Chihuahua because we were not able to rescue one. We looked at numerous places and settled on Pocket Puppies despite their further location and price.
Our "teacup" Chihuahua is now over ten pounds and 14 inches tall! She is not a toy, not a teacup, and larger than our other (full size Chihuahua) When we contacted them (not looking for a refund, at this point, but an apology or acknowledgement would have been nice!) they refused to even acknowledge us until we contacted the BBB!
At that point all they could do was stand behind the waiver they had us sign saying that they cannot guarantee the size of the dog. All we wanted was a level of customer service one would expect when purchasing a dog like this. We looked to their "expertise and knowledge" and purchased numerous things that no longer fit the dog, including an expensive carrier and clothing.
We asked numerous times how big they thought she was going to get and they told us each time ":no more than four pounds." Our vet took one look at her (when she was still a puppy and quite small) and said there was NO WAY she a teacup, and man was she right! Oh yea...Did I mention she's only six months old and STILL GROWING?
We know you can never guarantee the size of a dog - but you can sure make sure you're purchasing the right breed of animal and appreciate your customers! We would have continued to purchase animals from them but instead we are now forced to take it up with the BBB. We love our Lucy, but we could have rescued a dog if we wanted a full size Chihuahua.
I urge you NOT to spend your money with this place - read the reviews and do NOT take your chances with them!
Do NOT Buy an Animal from Them or believe a word they say!.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE!
We were looking for a teacup for my Mother for Mother's Day. we spent four months doing our homework on different pet stores, rescue organizations, etc. before settling on Pocket Puppies. At the time we only saw good information on this place; and our first experiences there were positive.
The dog they sold us is not only NOT a teacup AT ALL, but their response when we contacted them about our issue was as if WE were the bad guys! I have never seen such a low level of customer service before - And all we were asking for was an apology at that point. We understand that sometimes, things happen that are out of their control.
Not only did they sell us a dog that three different people assured us would be a teacup and no more than 4 pounds but we also purchased a carrier and clothing. During the purchase we asked several different people if she would outgrow the carrier and each one said NO. That carrier fit our dog for less than a MONTH before it was too small for her! The clothing lasted two weeks before it was too small!
This is NOT a situation where we are upset because our dog grew to be a little bigger than expected or a different color than they thought - our dog is only six months old and she's already 10 pounds and several inches taller than our other (regular) chihuahua. Even before she started growing our veternarian was suspicious that she was not a teacup chihuahua - now we have confirmation from two different experts.
You would think a reputable company would at least follow up with a complaint but no - we had to contact them THREE times and finally when we sent a letter via certified mail they responded. They were rude and condescending and obviously not concerned about their reputation or customer's satisfaction.
We actually contacted the breeder who sold Pocket Puppies the dog and they confirmed that the dog was NOT a teacup and never should be advertised as one.
Anyone considering this place should turn around and go elsewhere! Do not give them your money or your time, and do NOT trust a word that they say! I will not stop until everyone has heard my story since they refused to even acknowlege or offer an apology for any dissatisfaction with the VERY expensive purchase.
My Favorite. If you have a little one (a four legged little one!) then this is the place to go and pamper them! They have the cutest little collars for your small breed and cute little charms to place on the collars (my favorite!) It also has a large selection of hair accessories such as barettes for your pampered pooch! If you want to spoil your pooch, come here!
Pocket Puppies. I have 3 babies from them, they are all healthy. I think if you are looking for a baby,go see for your self, its clean, they take great care of the babies.like i said go see for your self. The girls and owner are the best. They have the best stuff to dress up your babies. I don't care what anyone says, they care and it shows! The boutique is clean as a whistle and the groomer is great. My 3 babies go there, and always come home happy, clean and great hair cuts. I cant say any more. They are the BEST!
They sold me a sick puppy. I easily fell in love with a tiny puppy at this store was thrilled to be able to take it home. We were given a long orientation on the risks of hypoglycemia and the steps to take if the dog is not eating. We followed their recommendations and our puppy still died 3 days later. The owner tried to blame us, but the results of a necropsy indicated that our puppy had congenital defects. The entire experience was traumatizing. Please make sure you don't buy a puppy from this store because their health records are incomplete and you could be setting yourself up for a large vet bill or a lot of heartache.
