“only wanted to take pictures of the Stanley's On Racine Building in the daytime, and it was a PERFECT DAY today, and at night with the brilliant blue sign lit up and the decorations for Cinco De Mayo to show my Grandmother in Tucson.”

Total Lincoln Park dive, but seriously adored by the neighborhood and beyond. Biggest brunch and bloody mary bar maybe in the city and serious karaoke on Sundays. Rap stars have even been spotted in attendance.
Poor service and overpriced. Bad service and over priced. The restaurant was empty when we entered and while there only 2 other tables were occupied. We had about 12 people who met up some arriving later than others. We were all seated as we entered, but only after all had arrived did the waitress (Ashley) came over. To start she refused to put in more than 5 checks. She said it would be too much for the cooks. What if we had come in separately? We only used half the tables in the place and they had at least as many outside. She dropped off drinks and left. Food took far too long and she only returned when it was done, then left again. She tookt the orders of the other tables as they were seated, but never checked on us. She finally came to give us our checks, long after all were done. At least 3 of the 5 checks went to the greeter to try to pay rather than wait for her. When she finally stopped by to collect payment and I mentioned not wanting to wait she was indignant and said she had other tables to help. As mentioned above there were 2 other tables, not exactly overwhelming. Since we were a large group all bills had a 15% 'Service Fee'. She did not earn this tip. Her service was the bare minimum to get us fed and out. She seemed to rely on the auto tip and ignored us. The bill shows the total with fee as 'Pre Tip amount'. The food wasn't bad and with an excellent experience would just be worth the prices they charge, otherwise it is well overpriced for diner quality food.
Never going there again. I came into Chicago for a job interview with Simens and was refered by a buddie of mine that is stationed up in north chicago. When I arrived there was no parking. When I went inside the music was so loud it made my insides rumble. The smells that were radiating from the basement were like sewage and I saw a rodent when I went to the bathroom. The food was burnt and the service was horrible. When I come to chicago I expect great food and service and this was far from it. This makes me wonder what happend to the quality of food and class that I have always expected from any place in chicago. I will never go there again.
I don't understand your animosity.. To whom it may concern, I don’t appreciate being Threatened. I googled “Stanley’s On Racine” and I am posting at every place I find that I have nothing against you and I do not understand your animosity against me. I only wanted to take pictures of the Stanley’s On Racine Building in the daytime, and it was a PERFECT DAY today, and at night with the brilliant blue sign lit up and the decorations for Cinco De Mayo to show my Grandmother in Tucson. I even called you after I took the photos to calm you down because I have no idea why the staff got upset. I took over 120 photos in total from the exterior of the build and the interior of the residential section of the building because of the antique fixtures and interesting layout of the interior. I took about 30 pictures of the trees and purple blooming shrubs on the patio just to be calming desktop wallpaper. If you would like copies of any of the photos I have not deleted for being out of focus or that I just didn’t like, I will be more than willing to provide you with digital copies. If you want me to print them up, I would need you to provide the photo paper and ink because I don’t have enough for 100+ photos. Again, I have nothing against you but don’t appreciate disparaging remarks of any kind since I have very little bad to say against you.
Good for lunch, HORRIBLE after dark..
I went here for lunch with a co worker a few times and the food was very good, their ribs are wonderful, then a few weeks later we went here after work and my opinion of it changed. The music in the bar is turned up so loud you can't hear anyone above, literally, a scream. People outside playing 'bags' started to stumble around and get annoyingly drunk. You shouldnt have people be that intoxicated before 9:00pm, if at all.
People arriving drunk parked at all angles in the parking lot because there are no paint lines or rows marked in the far lot. My coworker was unable to get his car out and we had to go inside and SCREAM to the woman behind the bar to ask for the drivers of one of the 2 cars blocking him in to move them. Their alcohol prices are over the top but it doesnt stop people from quickly consuming FAR too much alcohol.
I was so horrified by the atmosphere of the place after the lunch/dinner crowd leaves and the I only want to get trashed crowd comes in that I will NEVER return here after the sun goes down.
The crowd this place attracts is unable to hold their alcohol or act appropriately for public. Very sad.
There is also a disconcerting mold growing on the ceiling of the dining room and if they leave a door in the transition area between the dining room and the bar open, there is a horrible smell like a broken sewer main. I came here once with my nephews and the smell was almost overpowering. Between the smell coming from wherever that door leads and the crumbling drywall on the ceiling, I doubt I will ever come here for the food ever again.
The ONLY saving grace was that for the lunch crowd they keep the music down or off, but if you want to be able to have fun and hear your friends above the inappropriately loud music then stay away from happy hour on. With that many people drinking that much alcohol and going outside to smoke and screaming, I dont see how this place will stay open for much longer.
Dont come here unless you want to get sloppy drunk and make an a*s out of yourself.
If you want to see a large group of VERY stupid people, come here after dark on a week day... People standing out front getting sloppy drunk &screaming like retards.
I came here after the St. Patrick's Day Parade & two guys climbed up on the roof of the patio & started to sing & urinate on the roof & then tried to urinate on the people on the patio below them. They were up there for almost half an hour before someone from the staff took the complaints seriously & got them down.
The things that happen here are not just bad service and deafening music, there is public indecency and over intoxication. Someone is going to do something stupid and end up in the hospital. And Im not even talking about the sewer smell from the door in the dining room or the strange black mold that is eating the ceiling.
I am afraid to come back here and I can only hope that they dont p o i s o n someone.
TERRIBLE SERVICE!.
Consistently the WORST SERVICE in Chicago! Working in the West Loop poses many problems at lunchtime! There is no parking; restaurants are too far to walk too, etc. So, when our office found Stanley?s on Racine, we were ecstatic! Then came the big let down ? good food, TERRIBLE SERVICE! If you only have an hour for lunch ? DO NOT eat here! Want soup before your meal? Forget it! Want to receive what you ordered? Forget it! Want refills on your drinks? Forget it! Want your check in a timely manner? Forget it! Want wait staff that cares? FORGET IT!
Since the food is good, we keep hoping that the service will improve, so we go back at least once a month.....I am sad to report that since their grand opening, nothing has changed...THE SERVICE REMAINS CONSISTENTLY TERRIBLE!
Homecooked meals keeps patrons well-fed at this country-style West Loop grill and tap..
In Short
As the name suggests, this tap-and-kitchen gives customers a sports-bar experience up front and down-home cooking in back. While games are broadcast on several flatscreens, barflies chill with beers or munch on whole-shell peanuts filling a barrel by the door. Home-cooked signatures like mashed potatoes, fried eggs and gooey mac and cheese perfectly complement the retro dining room.
salad and drinks are tasty and affordable. waiter was attentive and efficient. salad was tasty. will try the pasta next week. drinks are good. need more ice.
