What a fun place with great food. The staff were amazing and the food was just as good! The owner sat with us ad talked about each dish before we ordered. We even got seated as soon as we walked in!

In a word...amazing.. I've only been to Azucar once, but it was enough to know I'm going back and bringing anyone and everyone with me. The arugula salad, the hangar steak, even the bread on the table far exceeded my expectations. I sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely friendly and polite. Even the busboy was incredibly attentive. I highly recommend visiting this Logan Square gem.

AVOID!!!. My friend and I went here to try it out. We were excited to have a tapas restaurant in the neighborhood. We were completely disappointed. The food dishes were horrible. The potatoes were blah, the goat cheese was really thick, and the meatballs were cold. We told our waitress about the cold meatballs and she sent them back without any apologies. Then they came back about 30 minutes later a little warmer. They didn't replace the meatballs with new, fresher ones. They just attempted to warm up the ones we already bit into. Finally, when we got our check, our waitress had overcharged us for the wine. When my friend told her, she said she would change it and once again---no apologies! I can't tell you how miserable of an experience it was. The food is terrible, the service is disappointing, and the prices are not worth what you are eating. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!!

Great addition to Logan Square. How can you not love this place?? The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The sangria is some of the best I've had in Chicago (get the champagne topper rather than soda water and you won't be disappointed). The food is consistently tasty. And, Robert, one of the owners and the front-of-the-house manager is delightfully earnest, upbeat, and seems to be having such a wonderful time that his enthusiasm is infectious. We're thrilled to have Azucar in the neighborhood!

High Hopes Dashed. I appreciate the adage if you don?t have anything nice to say, don?t say anything at all. However, in an attempt to save an unsuspecting diner a lot of time and money I am going to ignore said quip. I still can?t decide which was the most offensive part of my dining experience. Maybe it was the bartender and the lackluster cocktail she concocted. Then again it could be the incredibly slow service. I think if you?re going to make me wait for such an inexorably long time, the food should be impeccable or at least decent. But it was neither of those--in all fairness it was terrible. I canceled the last two of our small plates. In doing so, our server sent over the owner, Robert. He was very defensive and essentially called my friend and I food stupid. Like we didn?t get tapas. No apologies, no comp, no please come back and try again, pretty much just an eff you. I think that was probably the most offensive part of one of the most miserable dining experiences I have ever had.

Cute spot, good date place, really good sangria. I'm so happy to have this as a new addition to my neighborhood. I've been there several times and have enjoyed every visit. The sangria is really good--it has some zip (lame, but Citysearch has censored all of my otherwise benign adverbs) to it without tasting like Kool-Aid like some of the other tapas places in the city. The food is great and I haven't been disappointed, other than the lack of depth and variety with the cheese plate. Otherwise, I've tried all but maybe one or two items on the menu and have been very happy with them. I have read some reviews elsewhere that mentions the owner/manager. The first time I was there, one of the owners was very overbearing but he's mellowed with age, so to speak, and has finally relaxed a bit. I think it may have just been due to taking a chance and owning a first restaurant? My only other complaint is that I often see staff out front on the sidewalk smoking. Aside from the "eww, you're handling my food" factor, it's not what you would expect to see from a nicer restaurant. I should mention that even though they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (which I suppose is the "norm" in Logan Square), they're open until really late at night (2am most nights?). Overall, it's proven to be a great place to meet a group of friends or as a date spot. I hope it remains in the neighborhood for a long while.

Editorial Review. Locals flock for South American cuisine and tapas at the restaurant that is open late and serves dinner.
