Editorial Review for Crimson Lounge – by Fred Schlatter

In Short
The hotel's pristine white lobby gives way to a much darker space, the spacious lounge, featuring walnut floors, paneled and textured walls, blood-red rugs, puckered sateen perches and floor-to-ceiling glass panels emblazoned with Victorian markings. Generous high boys near the bar seat five, but most opt for loungier options peppered throughout. Hotel guests mingle over souped-up cocktails, like the luxury mojito that adds a splash of champagne to the already potent mix.

Insider Tips

Where to Sit

Nooks, both large and small, line the perimeter. Semi-private rooms are great for bigger groups, but if it's intimacy you need, they have that, too.

On the Menu

The bar menu features both very light stuff, like truffle oil-doused popcorn, and more substantial items, like sliders with frites.

The Extras

One area near the bar, a little raised and cleared of most furniture, serves as a stage for frequent live music. Expect mostly jazz and DJs.

Parking

Your options abound, from occasional spots along Kinzie to pay lots to valet.

From a design stand point it's the best bar in the city. There always seems to be an energy everytime I stop in after work. Also, when Samantha Ronson plays - watch out. It gets crazy!

Pros: Music, Design

Cons: Big
