This restaurant was a complete dissapointment!. I took my friends to experience Peruvian food in Chicago and I was taken aback by the presentation of the food. I am Peruvian and I know exactly how Peruvian dishes should taste or look and this place was a total mishap. I would not recommend this place as a sample of how Peruvian food taste like.

Wonderful Place!!!!!!!!. This restaurant is a great place to go out with your friends, family or to take your gf. Great intimate setting. We went there with a group of friends last saturday. Thank god we made a reservation, because it was full. We had a group of 12. The food is superb and is also affordable. The place is usually crowded on saturdays and fridays but after you sit down and try their food you'll know why. This place is also BYOB (no corkage fee) which is great and really cuts down on the expense.

Best Peruvian Cuisine. I took 3 of my friends to machu picchu restaurant, we were coming from a conference meeting in downtown chicago. Am from Lima Peru, but live in Chicago. I wanted to show my friends little bit about peruvian food. There were a lot of things that i liked from this place: first the server that was helping us was peruvian, the music they played was also peruvian music and also one the owners came to ask how we were doing was also from peru. Just with that i really felt at home (Peru). We ordered anticuchos, papa a la huancaina, and fried calamaries to start. Then we order lomo saltado, ceviche mixto, lomo al pacifico y tallarines verdes. All my friends loved the food and the murals on the wall, they told me they were going to come back with the wifes and with a bottle of wine. Yeah its BYOB. All in all great experience, great food and great service. I could safely say this is the nicest peruvian restaurant in chicago.

Dissapointed experience!. This was the first place i tried ceviche, and the experience was just horrible, first of all because the seafood had very tiny shrimps (less than a penny) and second because it had imitation crab, and third because it only had a few (maybe four small pieces of fish), plate cost me 14.50, was small and had too much lemon.

I had other things too but i just though i mention what irritated me the most, waiters were not around, i could see them at the bar (that is it). Overpriced!

We were there on a sunday noon.

Tasty Peruvian Cuisine. My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner at Macchu Picchu last night. We were pretty hungry, so it was nice to be seated right away and to receive bread and aji (that delicious spicy and garlicky green sauce) immediately. Our server was attentive and our water glasses were never empty. For our meal, we ordered one of the dinners for 2, which is really more a dinner for 3-4. We had the ceviche mixto (delicious), substituted the tamal for a papa relleno (fabulous), the papa huancaina (good but sort of bland compared to the first two items), and the seafood paella (so-so -- not enough salt or saffron and had a strange sweetness to it; the mussels were very strongly flavored). We left stuffed and overall happy with our choices. We'll likely be back for a meal of ceviche, papa relleno, and some sort of steak dish. A good experience overall.

Peruvian food takes a few chances---unlike the decor---at this casual Lakeview restaurant.. In Short
A massive photo-mural of the namesake mountain site and a bar-top stereo cranking traditional music hint at Peru, but the room could be any cafeteria. The food is another story, like a grilled beef heart appetizer, or Ceviche de Pato, chopped duck ceviche with chilies and sweet potatoes. Local families stop in, many ordering less adventurously. The sirloin steak A La Parrilla (grilled) is very popular.
