Worst Customer Service- Stay Away!. Worst Customer Service I have ever seen. Woman who sold me the membership was new and told me that starting January 1, 2012, the garage parking is free for the first two hours. Coming from Lifetime at $80/mo membership fee, I was looking to pay less. ALSO, knowing that you gotta pay for parking in Evanston, needless to say it was my #1 priority to get the facts straight on parking for members before I gave LA Fitness any sort of money and left my current contract. So, signed up for $25/mo and was happy. Come to find out parking is only free for the first hour (I can't be in and out in an hour). So I do the math, $25 plus $2.00/day in parking, if I work out 7 days a week = MORE THAN I WAS PAYING AT LIFETIME. It just got worse from there. I called three different times and spoke to someone at the front desk who said "yup the parking is free for the first two hours". It's not. So I wanted to speak with a manager. I left FOUR different messages for managers Mark or Travis to call me back, because peculiarly, they had "just stepped out for a moment" all ten times I asked for a manager. Sounds like a cool job- never have to be at work, can "step out" and go shopping all day long..... Anyways, it took me two weeks to finally get a hold of one of them, but of course neither could help explain/compensate me (i.e. return the ridiculous startup fee I paid). So I ended up talking with Nick at Corporate. Big surprise, he couldn't do anything EITHER. Oh but he was able to inform me that the woman who signed me up said she never talked to me about parking, and he doesn’t know what I was told when I signed up.

FOR REFERENCE: They make it super hard to get in contact with management/find any sort of phone numbers. So here ya go- The corporate Number is 949-255-7200. Ask for a manager RIGHT AWAY. Do not talk to the useless Customer Service Rep that will pick up. And don't try to get a resolution with the local managers Travis of Mark. But then again, corporate probably won’t resolve the issue you have either.…

This place is horrible!. This place is really bad- the monthly membership cost is reasonable, but the pool is always closed for health code violations and the bathrooms/locker rooms are disgusting. The trainers here are overweight and you have to pay extra for towels that are never folded. On top of that there are no extra amenities, not even a hairdryer in the locker room.…

Pool often closed. I joined this gym primarily for the 25 yd lap pool. Unfortunately, it has been closed for the past month (April '08) by the city health dept; this is in line with the other review posted in November. The gym has established a pattern of pool disrepair. If consistent access to a pool is a serious concern for you, don't join this gym. It is too bad that the EAC pool is 5 yds too short.

When open, the pool is kept at varying temps with incorrect chemical levels. I've been competitively swimming for 22 years, and in February / March could tell by scent that things were off. That said, it is 25 yards and the middle lanes are relatively wave-free.

The gym itself is reasonable. You get what you pay for - but make sure you review your contract before signing the dotted line. They tried to sneak an extra fee into my membership that was not discussed (e.g. they told me membership was $X / mo, they added a fee that made it $X+5 / mo).…
