“That dashed my wish for Brown Stew Chicken as well as a "plan B" order of Jerk since I don't like dark meat.”
“While I enjoy many Jamaican dishes, I decided to eat "mainstream" and order chicken, a STAPLE menu purchase, to see if I liked their food.”
Great Jamaican Cusine.
My first experience with the food from Ya Mon is when a friend bought some over to a get-together. Although I was the host I didn't get but a taste so I asked the friend to leave the name and phone number to the place.
I looked them up and decided to try a Jerk chicken dinner. The best I've had and I live in the city where I've given a number a restaurants with this type cusine. Ya mon is by far the best. Food so flavorful and they are customer friendly. Made you feel as though you were their best customer and this was a first visit.
As promised over the phone and a Saturday night . It took only 20 min. I would suggest GodsStar give em another try.
South suburbs Best Jamaican Food. This is by far the best Jamaican food in the South Suburbs and I'd venture to say in the Chicago area. I've eaten at just about every Jamaican/jerk restaurant over the last 15 years. I love their food and hospitality, this makes a big difference in setting the atmosphere for good food. They always smile and greet their customers. Each year they get busier and more popular. everything is good and flavorful. I'm torn between the jerk chicken and catfish. I've never been disappointed. I pray they expand and franchise.
Great Food! Good Service!.
I've been going to Ya Mon Jamaican Cuisine for the last 3 years and they remain the same. Great food and good service. The best Jamaican homestyle food ever.
I can't understand the negative review given by GodsStar because Ya Mon is very quick in their service and the owners are always very friendly.
It's best to phone ahead on Fridays & Saturdays because they are very busy. But, if you come in to order the wait isn't long. The owner tells you your wait time at the time of ordering (the most is about 20 mins. for seafood orders). Everything is fresh and very very delicious.
Best Jamaican Food in the South Suburbs.
I started going to Ya Mon about two years (I began working in the area) ago and have never had a bad experience.
Their food is delicious, hot, and authentic! I have been to other places in the south suburbs and trust me...you shouldn't even waste your time...Ya Mon is the best!!!
I'd love to tell about the food, but they didn't HAVE any!.
A friend of mine had a taste for Jamaican cuisine so we decided to try Ya Mon. First – when we walked in, people looked disgusted.
I soon learned why when I looked behind the counter to see no less than nine orders stacked in Styrofoam containers on the counter behind the only cashier. She had absolutely no sense of urgency in dispensing the orders as she announced to an ordering patron that they were out of white meat. That dashed my wish for Brown Stew Chicken as well as a “plan B” order of Jerk since I don’t like dark meat.
I decided to get some beef or veggie patties and rice and peas. The woman informed me that she didn’t have any patties and that they don’t sell sides by themselves. My expression prompted her to ask the men in the kitchen if they would allow me to buy a large side order of rice & peas.
The man glared through the door at me for an instant and said something indistinguishable. She told me, “No, sorry.” I laughed in her face and left.
While I enjoy many Jamaican dishes, I decided to eat “mainstream” and order chicken, a STAPLE menu purchase, to see if I liked their food. But to refuse to sell me a side item, considering they didn’t have TWO main menu items that I’d wanted, was just unbelievable.
If a hamburger place ran out of burgers, would they refuse the chance to sell you some fries, SOMETHING? That’s utterly ridiculous. I’ll NEVER patronize that place again
