Paddy O'Splaines in Chicago - Upscale Sports Bar and Irish Pub

  • Private party & banquet room
  • Large appetizer selection
  • Pool tables and free darts

Paddy O'Splaine's near Chicago's Wells Park and Lincoln Square isn't just another Irish watering hole. This beautiful space is complete with an open kitchen for serving up global contemporary cuisine including steaks, hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, salads and more. The appetizer menu features 30 different choices.

The North Center neighborhood is long over due for a warm and upscale environment where the food is consistently delicious and fresh and the flat screens will always be playing your game, whether it's soccer or any other Chicago sports teams. Pool tables and free darts are available in the game room.

Oak woodwork, candles, stained glass and a grand fish tank behind the bar create a unique atmosphere in Paddy O'Splaines. Come for dinner and stay for drinks in this Chicago Irish pub and sports bar.

Editorial Review for Paddy O'Splaines – by Liz Reuss

In Short
Housed in an industrial brick building on Montrose where discount retailers and mom-and-pop shops are the norm, this spilt-personality bar is law office meets tropical island with leather waiting room chairs, palm-leaved plants and screens of thatched branches. Light wood and flat-screens hung on every wall lend to a sports-bar vibe, with Cubs games broadcasted in stereo. Diners--who have a prime view of the open kitchen--perch at the marble-eque bar for beer and pub fare like buffalo wings, onion rings, beef Wellington, barbecue ribs and curious Italian and Mexican dishes.

The folks who run this place have an obvious contempt for the customer. Way overpriced, lame beer list, and the food nearly brought me to seizure. It's a good size space it's too bad they have no clue on how to utilize it. But the real crime is the staff. I'd rather have sulfuric acid thrown in my face than have to deal with those.....people again. It's their slothful ways that are obviously a byproduct of living under communism. Still, you're in the USA now! Get to Work! Have you never heard the expression "Work will make you Free"? Any positive reviews here are most certainly written by management. Have these people no shame?

Pros: They don't actually slug you in the face.

Cons: I'd rather be slugged in the face.

This cookie cutter standard issue pseudo-irish pub left me cold. Was it the overpriced drinks and food? Was it the terrible service from the disinterested staff? Perhaps it was the sterile environment or the room temp appetizers we were eventually served. I just can't put my finger on it. The crowd is lame. Try getting a root canal instead I'm certain you'll have more fun.

Pros: They take American currency.

Cons: I'd rather have acid thrown in my face than hang there again.

The name hints at Irish, but the menu crosses multiple cultural lines at this family-friendly Lincoln Square bar and grill.  See the full editorial review.
