“Molly's cupcakes are absolutely delicious, but to really enjoy them do not take them to go.”
“They have many varieties that look great (creative) and have great flavor.”
“Just opened recently and it's a great place to drop in for a sweet treat or two.”
“Very nice people, and working for a great cause.”
“This place is wonderful and worth the trek!”

You can build your own cupcake by mixing and matching cakes and frostings (I like the vanilla cupcake with brown butter frosting), or get one of the specialty cupcakes in flavors like cookies and cream and butterscotch.
I've had four of Molly's cupcakes and found only one worthy of writing home about, but I won't praise a business that has terrible customer service. A friend introduced me to Molly's on Wednesday, April 24, 2013. I thought the person waiting on us might have had a bad day so I dismissed the attitude; however I returned on Friday, April 26 and was given worse service. After making my selection and paying for it, the worker packaged my items and put them on a table behind the counter. Another worker asked if she could help me and I said another individual was bagging my purchase. I told her what I'd bought and one other worker found it on the table. The individual working on my order had left my bag on the table to take a phone call. Since she didn't go running out of the bakery, I determined the call wasn't an emergency. My tip for Molly's, Good cupcakes don't make up for bad customer service. On neither visit was there an exchange of harsh words so there was no need for this kind of service. I will not be returning. Thank you for the calories saved.

Best Cupcakes Around!.
I've been going to Molly's since it opened, and it has remained a staple dessert in our house every since the first day we tried a cupcake there. The cupcakes are really phenomenal - perfect frosting (the cream cheese on the red velvet is TO DIE FOR) and perfect cake texture. Sometimes the fillings are a little bit too much, but really, can you ever have too much cupcake?
The hidden gems here though are the smaller items that aren't right at eye level in the glass cases. These items are cheaper, and really make it a tough decision between cupcakes which are more expensive. Their rice krispie treats are absolutely PERFECT. Chocolate covered strawberries have the right consistency and quantity of chocolate - at half the price of high end places. And their cookies are totally divine.
Bottom line is there is something for everyone here. You will not be disappointed!
Awesome cupcakes. Molly's Cupcakes tastes like heaven. Well baked, tasty cakes in just few dollars. Whenever I visit that street, I never leave it without buying one. It makes me crazy. Staff is also polite and friendly.
Citysearch Editorial Review. For the true sugar addict, there’s no better place for a fix than this Lincoln Park cupcake bakery, where locals swarm to sink their teeth into perfectly frosted cake concoctions, brownies, cheesecakes and ice cream bars. The daily rotation of cupcakes includes such tantalizing flavors as cookie monster, tiramisu and peanut butter Nutella. But if one of those just won’t suffice, the cupcake bar--offering the opportunity to customize a cupcake of one’s own with cake flavor (red velvet, pumpkin), frosting (chocolate ganache, vanilla buttercream) and toppings (ice cream, brownies, gummi worms) –will do the trick. Porch swings, old furniture and games galore make this old-school space very homey.
Came to Chicago to study cupcakes and found heaven.
We came from France to check out real US cupcakes. After having tried several well renowned bakeries in London, UK, we hit Chicago.
Walking into Molly's is like going back to school - with all those good memories. The small tables and chairs, the games and the counter with swings !
Then when we get to the counter
it's heaven.
You can make your own cupcake. You choose the base, the frosting and the toppings. Then it is decorated in front of you !
Or if you are feeling really adventurous you can try the many specialised cupcakes. Be careful, these are serious cupcakes soft and fluffy, excellent filling and not sickly at all !! Much to our (pleasant) surprise expecting US cupcakes to be sweeter than those in the UK.
So Molly's is bakery number 6 on the cupcake list and went straight to the top and is still there (after trying 3 bakeries in Madison WI too).
To tell you how good it was, we were due to drive back from Milwaukee on the following Sunday directly to O'Hare to fly home, we changed our plans to spend the Saturday night in Chicago so we could go back to Molly's !!!!
This is THE address to know, to go to and to share with everyone !
Overpriced. The cupcake I had was a bit dry for my taste and it was nearly $4.00. Being a fan of the Ron and Fez show on XM radio, it was worth a visit.
Alway's worth the trip.. I'm a huge peanut butter and choclate fan and this cupcake made my life complete! I believe I can die now, LOL. The Ron Bennington is worth the drive.
Sweets for the sweet. My friend makes the cupcakes there and she is a terrific baker:)
Better than sex, well almost. The cupcakes are very delicious, there moisty which i love, pillsbury dough boy got nothing on that, plus the workers there are super nice. Its worth the trip and its really worth the view. : p
