Tips for Shokolad

Taste of Chicago portions not fulfilling. I've heard so many great things about Shokolad, but never had the chance to visit before, so when I saw their booth at the Taste of Chicago I knew I had to try something.

One of their items included “Snow Pear." I was immediately intrigued, imagining some exotic fruit growing in the mountains of Siberia. Alas, ‘twas only a typo. Snow peas are less exciting, but I gave it a try anyway. The tasting portion is just one bit-sized dumpling, with perhaps two peas and one cube of eggplant inside. The “Indian Spice Sauce” was flavorless and the dumpling looked and tasted as if it had been sitting in the freezer for a couple months. Steer clear.

Maybe I shouldn't judge them solely on my Taste experience though. So if I have the chance, I'll still visit their brick and mortar store. I just won't have such high expecattions.

Excellent!!!. it was wonderful!!! classy, clean and airy-- very friendly -- excellent food, reasonably priced-- please don't raise the prices.... pleasant decor... authentic Ukrainian food-- I would recommend playing soft Ukrainian music or piano/violin instumental music (like Papadyck) in the background.... will go again for sure for sure

While breakfast and lunch are on the menu at this Ukrainian Village eatery, dessert is the main fix.. In Short
Sky-high ceilings, a long-wooden counter-top and black, two-person tables set the tone for this café that also features pastries. The room offers a sampling of authentic crafted Ukrainian sculptures aligned in the back against cream-colored walls and soft-lit hanging lanterns. Large windows accent the ceramic tiled floor, while bright, yellow flowers excite the polished décor. In the daytime, locals stop in for a more non-traditional breakfast menu that includes crepes with sweetened farmers cheese and blueberry sauce. Lunch items feature house specials like their slow-roasted beef with caramelized onions, gruyere cheese and Dijon mustard on country bread.

Absolutely delicious food and great service!!!. This cafe is a hidden gem in Ukrainian Village!!! they just opened not too long ago, but the place is already filled with returning customers. My friends and I went there for Sunday brunch last weekend and were so pleased with both the food and service. Their breakfast menu is very reasonably priced and freshly made. Don't miss out on the dessert menu, it's the definitely the best part. I'm not usually a sweets person but Shokolad's pastries are light as air. Definitely should check out this great place!
