Bad service. Tonight I tried the restaurant, and I have to say as the pizza was quite nice (thin crust and nice ingredients) the service was quite lousy. I had had some friend?s feedback about the service at Union, but tonight I could experience myself. I arrived around 8:30pm and there was a waiting list of 8 people but there was 10 empty tables but the hostess did not have the ability to sit people on time, so decide to sit at the bar, but just to order the drink took 10 minutes, and to get the menu another 10?

As I was leaving decide to express my disappointment with the service with the ?partner-manager? and her feedback to me was that ?as I could see the restaurant was full?? . It seems like quality of the service is not one of their priorities.

I would stay away form the place? for the price there are other nicer pizza places in Evanston.

In Short
The rehabbed building is handsome from the street with its blocky grey stone and modern panel glass wall--the latter a feature that showcases an urbane interior comprised of industrial pipes and lighting, Marais Cafe chairs and terrazzo floors. A central pizza oven flips out crispy little pizzas topped with interesting combinations, like a rich lamb sausage, eggplant and olive number.
