In Short
Folks behind Sushi Wabi and de Cero expand their scope at this sleek, minimalist spot with yellow-green and slatted wood walls and views into the tandoor oven. Blond wood seating encourages getting cozy with neighbors, while lantern-like fixtures cast an inviting glow. Although traditional dishes like chicken tikka masala and lamb rogan josh can be found on the menu, plenty of others are tweaked. There's also a section honoring Indian street foods where samosas and chicken drumsticks get play. Among the more unique creations is grilled salmon swimming in turmeric-infused cucumber broth. Likewise, drinks like the rummy coconut lassi martini surprise.

I'm not into blasting people and don't like giving bad reviews... I'll just commend Veerasway on their truly beautiful decor, but their cuisine is truly lackluster. One suggestion to the owners... buy round trip tickets to New Delhi, India... Go to Swagath restaurant in Defense Colony, and relish in Indian cuisine executed at it's finest... it is then, and only then, that you'll see how far short your enterprise falls from brilliance. Chicago remains one of the worst towns for Indian cuisine.

Who knew that Samosas and interesting flavorful Martinis could be combined. Congratulations to Angela Lee for another home run!!! I've lived in Chicago for 25 years and am Indian.......so I enjoy the cuisine of Devon Avenue as much as the next, but when you dine on Randolph Street, you expect a much different scene, and a different flavor......and that's what you get at Veerasway. She's done a great job with creating comtemporary Indian cuisine with style. The dishes have interesting flavors, and great presentation. It seems like the staff has been well chosen, and well trained......great service! We enjoyed the more traditional Vegetable Samosas, Spring Mutter Paneer, but also thought the creativity of the Okra Chaat Fry, and Coconut Scallops were a must try! We also enjoyed the cocktails! Try the Mumtaz Maharita, and the Bollywood Rehab.......very tasty! We sat at a community table and had a great time. Looking forward to going back, and trying some more!
