Favorite Bar!!. My buddies and I love to go to uncle fatty's, it's one of the best bars in Chicago in my opinion. They always have awesome drink specials like $1 bottles and $1 drinks which really helps out when you're in college. They have fun stuff going on pretty much every night like I was in a bags tournament the other weekend and it's a nice place to chill out and catch a college football game. We live in a huge city so it's nice to have that beach atmosphere too. Try this place out if you haven't already you're in for a good time.

Over-Packed!!. I must admit this venue had great music. But it is too common of a place. I saw so many people I knew from in state and out of state all packed into the building tight...barely any room to dance or chill in V.I.P. Being there felt like I was in the basement enjoying someone's house party where they charged them at the door. Early arrival is suggested because the price doubles hour by hour...and its definitely not worth it.

Great atmosphere, fine dudes and a great cover band called Party Freak w/ a monkey too funny!. Me and my girls were out for a girls nite out and we got board at 2 other bars, so we went to Uncle fattys!

we walked in the place was packed the music was jammin and everybody was dancin and havin a great time. Next thing I know i'm pulled up on stage with about 5 other girls and I'm dancin with the band on stage. Then they tossed this Giant blown up monkey out ....and it was crowd surfing...too funny. the drinks were strong the band was tight. By the end of the night I think i fell in love like 10 times, then we tried to steal the monkey but they stopped us at the door, lol!

Hope to get back to this totally happening club again soon.

Gotta find out when party freak is coming back they were too much fun.

Thank you Uncle fattys Chicago has needed a cool new club for aawhile, see you at the next party.

Peace out!

p.s. go to fattys!

College spring break goes on permanent repeat at this wild below-street-level cantina.. In Short
The unlikely basement corner spot (former Cherry Red) doesn't in the least inhibit the effort to replicate a Cancun beach bar. The floor is astroturf, plywood or sand, and interior surfaces are covered in tiki-type wood, thatch or loud swaths of turquoise paint. Neon is big, too. Unsurprisingly, the young, beer-swilling crowd is rowdy, pounding cervezas and mammoth tropical concoctions to well-worn rock, pop and rap. The occasional cover band or reggae set mixes things up, but the focus is more beach bash than live music venue.

2nd Visit: Nothing Short of a Nightmare. The first time a friend and I went to Cherry Red (in Jan 07) we enjoyed ourselves. The club wasn't over crowded and the caliber of crowd was decent. Everyone was civilized. Pretty good experience overall?

My second visit to Cherry Red (June 07) was one of the worst club experiences that I have ever had. I was there for my sister?s birthday get together and apparently she had some sort of special reservation/party package (I believe private party package that is posted on their website). When we arrived not only did we have a hell of a time getting in (arguing back and forth with THE MOST IGNORANT STAFF ON THE PLANET), we paid a high cover, and there was NO OPEN BAR PACKAGE as was arranged with the individuals that we spoke to 3 weeks in advance?ONLY OVERPRICED BOTTLE SERVICE! I would HARDLY CALL IT SERVICE. The girl that brought us the bottles filled out glasses up once sat the bottles in an ice bucket and disappeared for rest of the night. There was a 30% gratuity charge tacked onto the bill for someone to do nothing but sit a bottle of overpriced alcohol in an ice bucket at your table. Deplorable!!! We were offered a ?conditional? bottle of Champagne ?on the house? to compensate for the horrendous drama that we experienced, but only after we purchased our own bottle of course (What a F*@#ing joke!!!).

The place was jam packed. It took me about 8 minutes (No Exaggeration!!!) to walk from the back of the club to the restroom.

In regards to the crowd there was a totally different atmosphere the second time around. NOT ONE OUNCE OF CLASS IN THE ENTIRE BUILDING. Club/Party promoters have brought a totally different crowd on the scene. I am positive that Cherry Red will not be positing photos of the crowd that I was surrounded by on their website.

Bottom Line, I will NEVER PATRONIZE THIS VENUE AGAIN!!!

I think its called Fresh Fridays or something... Yeah, i'm not sure what night that last person went on, but I KNOW its not Friday. All I know is that the crowd is pretty diverse and the music is mostly hiphop, top 40 stuff like on the radio, and some hard house or new wave I guess. There wasn't any line but the crowd was pretty packed.

I went there and had 30 bucks in my pocket and still got tanked. The promo company said that if you said their name at the door, that there wouldn't be any cover and they were right. The staff and promoters were pretty hospitable to everyone, and I came with and lots of other people. I ...think.. the name was Show Spec or Showspec Entertainment, but not 100% sure.

There was buttloads of bar room and I didn't have any problems getting my drinks pretty fast. and they had pretty cheap deals too. I don't know what the other prices were but I had jager bombs and my friends had patron, and each was only like $5 each, so not bad I guess. The beer was average, $4 and the bathrooms were a little small. I'd go back on a Friday night. can't vouch for the rest of the nights.

NASTY!. I went to Cherry Red with a friend who was invited there for a party. I go out almost every weekend all over downtown Chicago and I had NEVER even heard of Cherry Red before which was a bad sign from the start. The bouncers were nice and at 11:00 PM there was absolutely no waiting in line outside and barely packed inside. The bartenders need a dress code! They need to dress up and not wear their dirty baggy jeans with old ripped t-shirts! The drinks were not even alcohol filled, just pure ice! There is no wait for the bathrooms which was good but once inside it is filthy dirty! The music on a Saturday night is pure rap & hip hop where you can't even dance to! I even asked the DJ if he could play just one dance song for my friends & I and he rudely said NO! The crowd was VERY unattractive and nobody talks to anyone! It was boring!!! We ended up leaving early, around 2AM and the place was still not packed and once outside not one person waiting in line! Bottom line, the place needs to be shut down and remodeled or something! I will NEVER go back! NASTY PLACE!!! Don't go there!

Great Place.... I went 3 months ago, and it was packed, but the atmosphere was very friendly. I had great couch seats overlooking the dance floor. It has two rooms, and each room plays a variety of music. Although it was extremely busy up at the bar, the bartender would still manage to serve you right away. It is a great place to hang out with friends and have conversations. Plus, i'm going back tonight...

Nice place. Went there with some friends a few weeks ago. Nice little place, but wished we had better seats than by the door. Drinks weren't too good. Great mixed crowd and the people there were great and friendly. Nice place to meet people. Music was pretty good at times. Would definitely go back again.

Parking was far and hard to find. They had valet, but no price on the sign.
