Editorial Review for Potter's – by Fred Schlatter
In Short
The heft of the Palmer House is allayed, somewhat, by whimsical details, like white feathers in repeating glass columns and back-lit black-and-white photos of recognizable Chicago personalities the likes of Hef and Payton. The floor is a sort of weathered hardwood, and the ceiling reflects the charm with stamped panels. Chesterfield sofas and tightly upholstered mustard-yellow club chairs are civilized seating options. Cocktails lean to vintage creations, like Singapore Slings, while the food, from Lockwood, is pure comfort--think truffled potato chips, pretzel bread sandwiches and baked goat cheese.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoThis is one heck of a sophisticated place, ideal for entertaining big-shot clients or tossing one back before your driver whisks you home.
The Extrasis available until 11pm nightly--one of the latest places to grab a bite in the city.
ParkingTake advantage of the valet service. Who wants to drive in the Loop anyway?
When to GoBefore a show--there are plenty of nearby theaters--this place is humming (but not crowded), as well as the early evening during the week. Avoid weekends when the Loop empties.
Where to SitYour options are numerous, but somehow it's hard to feel better than when settled into one of the plump, tufted Chesterfields.
