Stay there only if you must. I used to travel a lot to Chicago and stayed at the Downtown Marriott very often. In all honesty, the one and only reason I kept coming back is the Marriott rewards program. The rooms are all old, not very specious and overall have a cheap feel to them. Not even a small touch of luxury anywhere. Room service in this hotel is among the worst in the business, both in low quality of food and high cost, not mention how slow it is. The exercise facility is actually good and of cousre, the location is great. I was disappointed to see that they chose to invest a significant amount of money to renovate the lobby, but not the rooms (where do you think guests spend more time...?).

Right next door to the Marriott, is the Hilton Conrad, which although compared to the Marriott it feels like first class vs. coach, many times it is actually cheaper or about the same. If you need to stay wtih a Marriott, I highly recommend the Residence Inn, on Walton, off Michigan. It was just renovated and offers a great experience and value.

Dependable digs boast consistent service and ample amenities.. In Short
This highly recognized hotel chain has been taking care of business and leisure travelers since 1957. Professionals appreciate the business center, meeting facilities, in-room work area with ergonomic chair and no-glare lamp, and express check-out. Those who come to kick back take advantage of the pool and gift shop. Spacious rooms include a comfy bed with a quilted-top mattress, oversized comforters and feather pillows. Additional amenities include a fitness center, whirlpool and concierge services.

Going to Chicago? Stay Here on the Magnificent Mile!. We stayed at the Marriott Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile while in Chicago on a business trip. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful, and the hotel is centrally located ~ step outside the doors and you're right on Chicago's Magnificent Mile.

Our room was tastefully done and comfortable and had all the business amenities one might need. The staff was helpful and quick to respond. I would highly recommend this hotel to others.

Great location for Michigan Avenue. I recently stayed at this hotel with my grandson. This is a great location. It is a very large hotel. The lobby bar is very happening.

Go Somewhere else on Mich. Ave. Of all the hotels on and around Michigan Ave. this hotel is not worth considering, esspecially during the holidays. The concierge meet aproval in recommending a good restaurant. But quality service stopped there. Do not go near their restaurant for breakfast. For the price not worth it.

Not a Night to Remember. There was nothing memorable about staying at the Marriot Downtown Chicago. In spite of its good location, the building looks dull from the outside. The convention centers and lounges are good, but for a personal stay the only thing really worth it is the view from the rooms. But you can get that same view along with bigger rooms and a better value at "other" hotels.
