Ok, so More is a bit snobby. You're buying cupcakes in the Gold Coast - what do you expect? You certainly can't get Foie Gras cupcakes anywhere else in the neighborhood. Worth a visit.
Do Not Use Them For Catering.
For anyone considering using More for catering a wedding, shower, or any other special event, DO NOT USE THEM! More cupcakes almost ruined a very special moment for a bride. More cupcakes screwed up everything! I scheduled a tasting. After I called to confirm the tasting I was told they would be busy and asked to reschedule. I rescheduled for the following day. When I got there, they had triple booked the appointment. My order was written down, which included some special requests. They did not want any money down or any contract. A week later I contacted More and they sent me a contract, which I agreed to. I thought everything was set. 3 Days before the event I called to confirm. They told me they thought I didnt want the order for WHATEVER reason, they LOST my order form, and were completely unapologetic. I had to last minute scramble and find another bakery.
More cupcakes is very popular for catering right now. They book too many appointments to keep track of them all. Dont take the risk that your order is the one they lose!!!
Chicago's own Gourmet Cupcake Bakery.
More is always thinking outside the box and coming up with creative, but tasty, cupcake flavors. During March, they had Irish Coffee Cream and Chocolate Guiness.
Although they are always trying new flavors, there are a few staples, like Varlhona, Chocolate Vanilla Cream, and Salted Carmel, that are tried and true favorites. I tend to love chocolate and fruit flavors, so I'm dying to try the Chocolate Pomegranate.
When Sprinkles opens up one block away, More has nothing to worry about.
Left me wanting MORE. It's my birthday this weekend, so some friends took me here today to celebrate! Unbelievably good cupcakes! I'm a chocolate lover, and for me, this place was heaven! Chocolate cake was incredible (and lots of chocolate varieties), the Red Velvet rocked my world. There was seating outside, (they don't have seating inside) so we sat at a table and had a cupcake orgy. The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful, and when they heard it was my birthday, they gave me an extra cupcake for free! It would take me a month to work my way through the flavors, but that's exactly what I'm planning to do!
Not good. I give them credit for thinking outside the box and coming up with innovative flavors. The downside is, I just don't like what I am eating when I try it. They are dry and left a lot to be desired. Another thing, the top of the cupcake sank into the middle, after about 3 hours of them being in the box. Is there a big gaping hole in the middle that causes this? Think of a deflated hot air balloon. That was our cupcakes.
Best Cupcake in Town. More really lives up to it's name. Tempting sweets displayed in a jewel box of a store. Helpful staff, delicious treats. The chocolate cake is to die for. Give me more (please).
Best Cupcakes in town by far!!!! Leaves you wanting MORE!. Can I just say one thing? WOW!!!! These cupcakes are amazing. I came at closing time, and the salesperson announced a " free gift with purchase." She then proceeded to cut open about six or seven cupcakes, giving everybody in the store a taste of each. I thought I had died and gone to heaven!!!!! I purchased the "More" cupcake (a chocolate cream filled cupcake akin to a hostess but about a million times better) and a salted caramel -- quite possibly the most sinful delicious thing I have eaten in a year. I worship at the chocolate shrine, so my "gift with purchase" was the chocolate chocolate cupcake. Amazing! Definitely the best chocolate cake the city has to offer. The shop is exquisite, very minimalistic in brown and cream tones, and the salespeople are helpful, fun and friendly. More, more more please!!!!!
Everything tastes like bacon. My boyfriend and I tried several cupcakes, including red velvet, white velvet, and chocolate. First of all, we were shorted one cupcake (I think they had too many people working to ensure good customer service). A bigger problem was that all of the cupcakes smelled and tasted like bacon. My boyfriend is a huge bacon fan, and even he found them yucky. I hate bacon.
Snobby customer service. I was really excited to try this place out because the citysearch review said it had a "jillion flavors"...however, when I went the display was quite empty and a lot of the flavors I requested (red velvet, carrot cake) were not available. The couple ahead of me got tons of free samples from the lady and a lot of attention, but we were not offered any samples. Also, the other lady at the desk was not very helpful in explaining the different flavors..she seemed annoyed that we were asking. Furthermore, when I ordered the chocolate flight, they did not inform me that it included 6 mini (bite size) cupcakes for $10...I would not have ordered it if I had known they were so tiny! Such a rip off. The larger cupcakes are about the size of the ones you would make at home, but way too overpriced at $4 a cupcake. The cupcakes are pretty good and the frosting is not too sweet, but the customer service is so horrible. They were incredibly snobby and uppity. For such an expensive cupcake, I would expect stellar customer service in return. I'm not sure if I will be returning.
Fancy & overpriced does not a good cupcake make.. I'm sorry but this place freaked me out. When I went it was absolutely packed with obnoxious women who looked like they've never had a cupcake in their lives (or any other food for that matter); everyone was just lingering like it was social hour and it was clogging the line all the way out the door. Of course, I'm automatically biased b/c I hate Gold Coast crowd. I know they've advertised that there are several different flavors (does the review before mine say 50?) but I only saw about 3, one of which involved bacon bits! Eek. I should preface this review by saying I'm a huge Mandy Bs devotee but I came with an open mind. I tried the Red Velvet and the Salt Caramel. They were moist and sweet (especially the gooey caramel filled cupcake- yum!) but the frosting was terrible (I couldn't taste cream cheese at all in the Red Velvet frosting) ---- not at all worth the $4 they charge per cupcake. I know that the day before opening they were giving them out for free and I saw a ton of cupcakes dropped on the sidewalks through out the neighborhood so I don't think they were very popular. I think it's great to make gastronomic cupcakes, but their attempt wasn't successful.
Cupcakes in a jillion flavors rule the menu at this Gold Coast bakery..
In Short
This matchbox-sized bakery is more of a place to grab your gourmet cupcakes to go, rather than spend a leisurely afternoon with girlfriends--there are no tables. Customers will find a minimalist setup with a few shelves and display case of neatly placed cupcakes in more than 40 flavors. Chef Gale Gand consulted on the menu, spinning a version of BLT into a petite treat garnished with cherry tomato and micro-basil, a recipe, along with many others, that challenges traditional ideas surrounding the childhood favorite. But don't worry: Classics like the Red Velvet and Boston Cream haven't been forgotten.
