The Details on The Blackstone Hotel
Know Before You Go:
A ninth floor suite was the scene of a Republican candidate selection in 1920, where the term "in a smoke-filled room" originated. On the 10th floor, a presidential suite gets its name from the many American presidents who have stayed. Both suites have been restored to their original designs.
Parking:
Valet. Although this part of the loop can be less frenzied the hassle of trekking to feed, the meter is deterrent enough. The restaurant and the hotel use the same service, so if you are a guest, call ahead if you need your car and it's a weekend night.
The Extras:
Mercat a la Plancha is the vibrant restaurant inside the hotel, just off the lobby. Its Spanish food is expertly executed, and the scene rivals the area's better bars.
