Wonderful atmosphere. Glen Prairie is fast becoming one of our favorites; the cozy, romantic atmosphere is very beguiling. So far it's still enough of a well-kept secret that the noise level is very low, but I suspect that will change soon. The food is comforting, locally-grown and while there might not be anything to truly excite your taste buds, sometimes it's enough to have a beautifully roasted chicken or perfectly grilled piece of salmon. The French Onion soup is exceptional, but beware the huge portion! All in all, Glen Prairie is a restaurant I find myself returning to, time and again.

The bounty of local farms ends up on the tables of this snazzy hotel restaurant, which sources its ingredients from farmers' markets in Lombard, Westchester and Glen Ellyn. Depending on the time of day, the meal could start with a grilled breakfast sandwich with Wisconsin cheddar, move on to Buttermilk Fried Amish Chicken with corn, bell peppers and honey Dijon vinaigrette and finish with Grilled Dakota Farmed Bison Ribeye. Nature factors into the interior, a showcase of hardwood floors, beamed ceilings, sage-colored walls and windows to shower light in. Even the menus are earth-friendly--they're printed on recycled paper.
