In Short – This New York chain of Irish pubs opens its sixth location in the heart of the Gold Coast in the former NY Steakhouse space. To mimic that traditional tavern look, the decor is wood heavy, with a 53-foot mahogany bar, chrome fixtures, banquet seating and more than nine plasma TVs for sports fans. Celtic fare includes cold-weather faves shepherd's pie and chicken pot pie. Eggs Maryland and omelettes bring in the brunch crowd.

- Where to Sit:
- A VIP area called "The Den" can hold up to 75 people. The nook has a fireplace and exposed brick walls and can accommodate bottle service.

I enjoyed McFadden's immensely. Love irish bars. I have always had a great time here, but I will admit that it is not for everyone. Sometimes you may not get the adequate service you believe you deserve. I think it is just a matter of personal preference, and this bar is to my liking.

The place is a joke. I have never been more disrespected in my entire life until I went to this bar. The bouncers are abusive and pretty much thugs. They prey on women and establish a fake "cover charge' in order to bank some money. They also play "kick out the random ni**er", where they will simply ask a African American person within the bar to step outside only to tell them they have been thrown out the bar with no premise. This place is outright wrong, the most racist and disgusting bar in Chicago.I'm personally going to petition an inquiry on this place, I hope to shut this place down.

First of all, I used to be a big fan of McFadden's...but I feel like once you're legally allowed to drink, it's no longer fun! You are shoulder to shoulder with strangers, there is nothing to dance to, and staff there are rude.
I have talked to the management there, and they are more rude than their staff.
Bottom line: unless you're a 20-21 year-old frat boy, I would refrain from entering this dump!
PS- If you really want to see some health code violations, take a look in the back.

- Cons: bad music, rude service, too packed to hang out with friends
