The Scene
Coffee Mill is in southeastern Minnesota, not far from the picturesque town of Wabasha, where most of "Grumpy Old Men" was filmed. Eagles are often sighted in this area, as the great birds nest on the banks of the nearby Mississippi and Chippewa rivers. Skiers are guaranteed a scenic view of both Minnesota and neighboring Wisconsin.
The Slopes
Set in a "bowl" in a river valley, skiers are conveniently protected from cold winter winds as they enjoy the longest vertical drop south of Duluth. Snowboarders are welcome at this hill, which has a snowboard park with a half-pipe. The 10 tree-lined runs are evenly divided between beginning/intermediate and advanced-level skiers. One towrope and two double chairlifts service the slopes.
