Homey Indonesian eatery in Rogers Park..
This family-run Indonesian restaurant emphasizes the cuisine, not the decor, which is sparse and simple. Grandma helms the kitchen with her daughter, and other family members work the crowd in a small dining room splashed with lime green walls and a few glittery birds. Martabak telor, an egg roll-like appetizer stuffed with ground beef, eggs and three different types of onions, dishes up cozy comfort. Similarly, mie goreng, a pile of egg noodles stir-fried with several types of soy sauce and bell peppers, is just like mom's cooking--if mom was Indonesian--satiating in a generous, no-frills way. Fried plantains for dessert round out the menu.
