Lakeview Mexican restaurant inspired by artist Frida Kahlo..
A chatty local clientele fills the tightly packed tables at this small Mexican storefront owned by two sisters. A sibling to Andersonville’s La Cocina de Frida, the restaurant dishes up caliente cuisine made from the owners' family recipes, including several of Kahlo's favorites. Some of the offerings coming from the shiny steel open kitchen are standard fare--tamales, enchiladas splashed with mole, ranchera or verde sauces--but for a more interesting take, there's the bomba Frida, a mess of chorizo, ham, pork and pineapple, blanketed in melty queso. Frida herself, presiding over the place from paintings on the walls, would be proud.
