DEFINATLEY would not recommend. Went Sunday right as brunch was ending. was told could still order from brunch menu. out of chicken (for chicken & waffles). my friends both ordered burgers. waitress asked how would like cooked (they said medium) & each asked if could have onions, mayo, ketchup, mustard-waitress replied "WHATEVER" (?). she then told them burgers come with onion rings (we pointed out says with fries on menu). she returned 10mins. later & said "we dont have onion rings, burgers come with fries!! (?). told her need a burger to go too. food took 45mins. to arrive (only 4 other tables seated in the entire place). burgers were all well done, also brought to go burger & placed on table (so it sat there the entire time we were eating). waitress did not bring any mustard, mayo etc. we had asked for. never saw that waitress again!!! not even for the check. we had to go inside to bar & have someone hunt our check down!. the waitresses here are the WORST i've encountered in 5 yrs. *also had a DJ blasting house music which was completely inappropriate for a brunch situation at 3p.
I love this spot!. Three friends and I went here for drinks and appetizers on a Wednesday night. There was a healthy crowd but it wasn't super packed. I liked the vibe the second I walked in the door. It was classy, but not arrogant. We had a drink at the bar while waiting for our booth. Only took about 10 min to be seated and that was without a reservation. Once seated our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We shared 4 appetizers: raw oysters, crab cakes, veggie skewers, and the mushroom & steak flatbread. I could tell all of the ingredients they used were fresh and of excellent quality. Our server told us everything they buy comes from local farmers markets. And she paced the appetizers perfectly. Seemed like the next one came out just as we were finishing the previous dish. We ended up having a great time and really enjoyed our apps. Next time I think I'll come for a full meal!
Fantastic Evening Out. This place is great for a night on the town with friends. I made an earlier reservation, had a fantastic meal and then stayed to drink for a little bit. The decor is amazing and the drinks are great but the reason to go is certainly the food. Chef Spiros is a master of fresh, yummy and interesting flavors. The plates are big enough to share but not so big you'll be bursting the seams of your party dress. Be brave and try a bunch of things, you won't be disappointed. I hear they have brunch now on Sunday, but I haven't tried it yet. All in All a great addition to the dinner/drink scene in Chicago.
Cavernous River West lounge serves up '20s glam.. The 1920s bordello vibe of this bi-level lounge/restaurant in River West--a sexy explosion of red walls, gold gilt-framed mirrors, plush damask-upholstered banquettes and polished dark wood beneath a grand, crystal-dripping chandelier--provides the backdrop for equally decked-out revelers leaning in close to be heard over the buzz and DJ-spun beats. The sip of choice: cocktails with names meant to evoke the early 20th century, like the Muckraker Mojito. Southern-tinged plates including mussel and smoked sausage "jambalaya" with saffron aioli and buttermilk fried quail are sized between small-plate and entree. Bottle service and a late-night bites menu play to the clubby weekend crowd. A quieter second-floor bar offers voyeuristic balcony views.
