What People Are Saying About Cole's

Citysearch
Everybody needs a place to go where the bartender knows your name, there's no cover and not a TV in sight. In Logan Square, this is it. In the evenings, a no-frills crowd leisurely sips $2 PBR and $5 microbrew drafts up and down the long wooden bar, looking content to do nothing more all night. Local bands perform on the back stage Friday and Saturday nights, and fresh talent takes a stab at stardom at Wednesday's open mic night. Décor is random and scrappy--red vinyl chairs, brown tables that have seen better days--and perfect for kicking back.
The Details on Cole's
Where to Sit:
Park up at the bar, where bartenders deliver easy conversation and suggest the perfect poison (microbrew or imported beer). Expect to stay all night, or at least until you've run out of quarters for the jukebox.
When to Go:
Friday night is the most popular. The place gets crowded, and a live band performs in the backroom stage area. Grab your pals or go solo--the vibe is down-to-earth and friendly, so it's easy to make new friends.
The Extras:
Cole's provides the equipment and opportunities for local musicians and artists to showcase themselves. The back stage is equipped with two speakers, a house piano, house drum set and bass amp, so all bands have to do is show up with their guitars and rock. Artists are likewise encouraged to showcase their work on the bar's walls.
