Pilsen shop sells one-of-a-kind pieces in vintage fabrics..
The contemporary women's fashion line by Chicago-based designer Annie Novotny has made its way onto boutique racks both locally and nationally, but this boutique--which doubles as her workspace--marks her first personal venture into retail. The store is neat and sparse; a full artillery of manned sewing machines buzzes from the back of the space, and a solitary rack of garments lines one exposed brick wall. The selection features strikingly modern, feminine and sophisticated blazers, dresses and scarves, all created from hand-picked vintage fabrics. These are fashions you can feel good about sporting. The carefully chosen materials are fair trade, sustainable and 80 percent organic, and are sewn by workers who receive a fair and living wage.
