It’s no surprise that there’s a demand for morning buns and good coffee in Lincoln Park, what with its conglomeration of quaint restaurants, boutiques, family-sized homes and parks. Simplicity is the theme of this cafe and bakery, where clean lines, steel tables and chairs and wooden beams make the space more about the food than anything. A giant window in the back shows what’s going on in the kitchen, while a huge second level makes room for more seating. The menu rotates daily, but many staples--such as croissants, sea salt caramels and house-made granola are regulars. The limited selection of sandwiches, salads and quiche make for a lighter bite, which is a good thing, considering how many desserts are staring back through glass cases.
