change the chef!!. everything flooded with butter!!the veal is not veal and the red cabbage is too sweet. Everything so fatty that I had to send my liver for vacation after one meal!the meat was hard obviously microwaved or somethiong. But for the service, it would have been a disaster!!

Authentic German with all the right touches!. Edelweiss is such a great place, a true hidden gem. Sure, its out in Norridge, but thats not more than a 25 min drive from downtown where I live. It has awesome authentic food... delicious! Also not pricey at all, very reasonable.

Another great thing about Edelweiss is that they have live music, so fun! I recommend this restaurant for anyone who is looking for something a little different, and for fabulous German food!

Norridge restaurant achieves an authentic German feel with plenty of beers on tap, a lively atmosphere and stick-to-your-bones food.. In Short
With more than a dozen German beers on draft and an oompah-pah band, the mood is light and festive at this Old World restaurant. Starters include sirloin beef tartare with paprika and mustard followed by heart entrees like baked pork shank with bock beer sauce, roasted ducks and housemade sausages. After all that food, customers still have room for desserts such as the popular apple strudel and chocolate cake.

Dieser Platz ist ehrfürchtig!. Coming from a German-American family I can honestly say (and Oma would kill me for saying this), but this is the best German food I have ever had! I have been to the Berghoff several times, and it is good. But Edelweiss makes it look like a museum.

Edelweiss is alive and bubbling with good food, and good people, and better atmosphere. If you ever get a chance, then try the Oktoberfest (held in September) feast! You will not regret it.

Beifall!

Authentic and Delicious. We are never dissapointed by the food here. There is a huge selection of beef, chicken and seafood dishes. We often go with the specials-on a recent trip we tried chicken rolled around asparagus and sausage that was so good, it was beyond food. The soups are great to start, generous bread basket, and the import beer selection is good (BBK,Konig)-wine list ample. We have seriously never ordered anything we didnt like. The house band is sometimes comical, but it just adds to the fun we think. Reasonable-our tab for 2 with drinks(more the 1!) and dessert/coffee+tip is around $90,but we could do it much cheaper. We have visited other German restaurants and always find this is the best. Cant understand the negative reviews...
